- UPCOMING EVENTS
This term has been exciting and eventful, filled with a variety of community-focused activities providing wonderful learning opportunities for our students.
We kicked off with our vibrant Multicultural Day, a celebration of the diverse cultures within our school community. Students and staff from Leeming SHS ESC and Leeming SHS came together to share traditional clothing, foods, and performances, creating an enriching experience that deepened our understanding and appreciation of the many cultural backgrounds that make up our school.
Next, Book Week brought the magic of literature to life! The school was buzzing with excitement as students dressed up as their favourite book characters, participated in storytelling sessions, and explored the wonders of reading.
Our Winter Wonderland-themed Disco was another big hit, providing students with an evening of fun, laughter, and a chance to socialise with their peers. The event was filled with beautiful decorations wonderful costumes, and great music, making it a memorable night for all. Thank you to Ms Cutts and Ms Bruns and all the staff who volunteered their time to make decorations and supervise students on the night.
We also celebrated Education Assistant (EA) Appreciation Week, where we acknowledged the incredible contributions of our dedicated EAs. Their hard work, patience, and support are vital to the success and well-being of our students, and it was wonderful to take the time to express our gratitude for all they do.
The Athletics Carnival has been moved to Friday, 13th September. The sun will be shining, and I look forward to seeing students dressed in their vibrant House colours and cheering on their peers. This event takes a lot of organisation and coordination, a big thank you to Ms Heard and Ms Pereira for all your hard work.
As part of a Department-wide initiative to reduce red tape and workload for teachers and school leaders, the Department has worked with the School Curriculum and Standards Authority to clarify the requirements for end-of-semester reporting.
In light of this clarification, we are reviewing our current reporting practices and implementing changes to our school’s assessment and reporting plan. There will be changes to semester 2 communication in Term 4.
After reviewing the readership of our school newsletter over the past twelve months we have decided to reduce the number of newsletters to one a term. There will be regular updates about school events and information on our school Facebook page. I am excited to inform you that our new school website is now live https://www.leemingesc.wa.edu.au/ . The new website provides an overview of our school, information for parents, school publications, curriculum information, news and events, and a booking system for meetings.
I wish everyone a well-deserved, safe, and happy holiday break.
When I thought last term was busy, number 3 takes the cake! We had Multicultural week, Book week, the AFL Kick ability carnival (where we walked home with the Division 2 trophy), Bushrangers camp, Yr 9 camp, the Winter Wonderland Disco, the Sports School Carnival & a Grandparent Morning Tea coming up. Is it the school holidays yet?!
My sincerest thanks go out to the excellent admin, teachers and EAs who are amazing advocates for our kids & celebrate the smallest wins with the same enthusiasm as winning Gold Medals in the Olympics. I marvel at the immense patience and care that is needed for those tricky moments & hope you know how much it means to us families.
As for the board, we are grateful to have Dawn Barker renew her tenure. This is her 10th year serving and she’s been such a great asset to the school and its members. Dawn is also working hard behind the scenes, planning the annual Leeming ESC Alumni catch-up at Piney Lakes, which is due to take place on the 9th of November.
Over the last two meetings, ideas were raised over effective planning involving communication between the school/staff and families when a critical incident happens, as well as making things consistent and easy to understand for our families where English is their 2nd language. Kerryn Coles went through the Be You 2023 survey results, where we discussed & found areas that could be improved and simplified for smoother communication. As a result, an informative flow chart flyer has been created and will be sent out shortly to families. In addition, Ina Dorsheimer (the school psychologist) presented the board with the whole school's well-being plan using the BE YOU framework. Emma Gage shared information about the school's approach to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and delighted us with a sneak peek of the new ESC school song, which our students wrote.
A big focus has been on the capital and minor works that are needed around the school and hopefully, with the help of some Government funding, this will happen shortly. Exciting times are ahead as the new website is operational, with some great additions & hopefully easier ways for families to access information & make appointments with staff members.
See you again in Term 4, we got this! Liv Sjahrir

Planning for Therapy 2025 has Commenced
Dear Families and Caregivers
To manage the large volume of therapy requests at the start of the year, we have generated a 2025 LSHS ESC Therapy Process flyer. The flyer outlines our processes for 2025 and application closing dates for therapists to make a request via the school’s website.
We ask families to share this information with their therapists to ensure therapy requests are submitted by the due date.
For any enquiries, please email: leeming.shsesc.therapy@education.wa.edu.au
Leeming SHS Education Support Centre appreciates the contribution that therapy services can make to the lives of people with disability in supporting them to reach their potential and enjoy meaningful relationships and experiences in their community.

The end of term three has proven to be a busy yet very productive time for all students in ESC 2. Their dedication has been evident in their persistent hard work across various programs, resulting in significant progress. Students have made impressive strides in their writing and public speaking skills and demonstrated substantial growth in their everyday life skills.
In their recent Mathematics unit on measurement, students have showcased a commendable grasp of key concepts, including length, weight, time, and capacity. Their learning has been comprehensive and hands-on, as they engaged in practical tasks using various measurement tools, such as measuring objects, weighing materials, tracking time, and assessing capacities. Listening to the students explain how they use these skills daily was excellent, particularly at TAFE and Work Experience.
In our Community-Based Learning (CBL) program, students demonstrated exceptional initiative and skill as they navigated their way to and from Cockburn Shopping Centre using public transport. It has been great that all staff members have taken a step back and observed the students effectively manage the journey, making confident, informed decisions together as a group. By sticking to their allocated budget, all students showcased their practical application of money by making wise purchases for their lunches.
This term, we have made many different snacks and meals in our Independent Living Skills class, including pancakes, lunchbox muffins, pinwheels, snack bites, ham, tomato, and cheese scrolls. All students continue to show more confidence in following the recipes and using a variety of cooking utensils and appliances.
With only two months left of their school year until they graduate, all students in ESC 2 continue to talk about the exciting times ahead. As a class, we look forward to the upcoming Year 12 Camp and the big Graduation Day....... bring on Term 4!!

ESC 3 - DEBORAH HUGO/POONAM PARWANI
It has been such a busy term that we had to hit the ground running on day 1 of this term. It was lovely to meet most of our parents at the recent My Plan meetings and heart-warming to see some students making good progress in their journey of self-discovery.
Our year ten students continue to develop work skills at their work experience at Striker Recreation Centre this term. This has been a fantastic opportunity to learn about the expectations of the workplace, as well as develop work readiness routines such as hygiene, keeping uniforms clean, maintaining a tidy work, and solving problems that arise in the workplace. We are so proud of everything our students have achieved.
This term, we will be going on several industry visits. To date, we have visited Alinea Inc, and students have had the opportunity to get first-hand experience with different sections and jobs at Alinea. We will visit Good Sammy Industries, Workpower and Bunnings in the coming weeks. We are so grateful to these organisations for hosting our students. It has been eye-opening for the students to get a real-world perspective on different organisational functions. It will certainly guide future conversations in our My Plan meetings.
In Bush Rangers, we have learned the importance of safe manual handling. Students had hands-on practice on how to carry a box safely and how to carry a table with a two-person lift. In Literacy, we have listened to stories and learned to recount writing. In Mathematics, we have been learning to sharpen our money skills. Students are learning to present money in different denominations and calculate change. For CBL this term, students are developing skills in using money, identifying landmarks and refining their road-crossing skills. Our students are looking forward to the change of visiting the library and Youth Centre instead of shopping centres. We have been learning to make simple meals in our Independent Living Program. Besides identifying the ingredients and utensils required for each meal, they have also been recalling the steps through sequencing activities. Most students enjoy the snacks or meals they make.

From the ESC 3 team
Mrs Hugo, Ms Parwani, Mrs Priest, Mrs Baker Mrs Murugan
We have had a great start to term three and have been consistently demonstrating all USTAR values when interacting with peers and staff members. Industry visits have begun, and most of our students were able to visit Alinea and view their various businesses. These industry visits will continue with students attending other locations such as Workpower, Good Sammy’s and Brandon’s Shredding.
Students have been allocated buddies from Notre Dame and have started going to Fremantle on Friday mornings as part of their sports program this term. Our students have enjoyed engaging in team-building activities and practising their gross motor skills to become better at throwing and catching, among other exercises.
Students have also thoroughly enjoyed our fortnightly cooking program. Functional maths and literacy tasks are applied as students calculate the total cost of ingredients and compare prices between various supermarkets. Next, they read and write out the recipe method. Finally, students work together in measuring, weighing, and completing all tasks needed to ensure everyone in the classroom has something delicious to enjoy!
We are so blessed to have such respectful, kind, and caring students and staff. Thank you to Ms Harcourt, Ms Palma, and Mrs Blacklock for their hard work and selflessness in ensuring all students are supported and cared for.

Thank you, and I am looking forward to what is to come!
Term 3 has gone ridiculously fast, and we have been as busy as possible in ESC6!
In science, we have been studying Earth and space, and we have learnt about lots of animals and other things that have been sent into space. Did you know they sent animals to space before humans to see if they would survive? A pizza has been sent to the International Space Station and delivered by Uber Eats! Our most recent lesson was on ‘rotation’ and ‘revolution’. We have made models in class showing how the earth rotates while revolving around the sun and how day and night occur.
Book Week was a big hit, and seeing everyone in their costumes was lovely. This term, we have been reading a Western Australian book called ‘Runt’, studying its characters and settings and predicting what we think will happen.
All the students are showing huge progress in their public speaking, regularly giving presentations in class on what they have learnt, both in various lessons and their weekly News topics.
Our class joined in by making lots of decorations for the disco, and all that attended had a great night. It was lovely to see them let their hair down and check out their dance moves!
Big congratulations to Issy Chia, who participated in a fantastic Dance concert (even dancing a solo) as part of attending the mainstream Dance course, and to Eva Molloy for participating in two public performances with the school Choir. Both girls did exceedingly well and were excellent representatives for our school.

Bring on term 4 and all the work and fun that will bring!
Our students started the term enthusiastically, demonstrating their commitment to our USTAR values in the classroom and across the school. Seeing them settle into their routines with dedication and positivity is lovely.
Our classroom has been buzzing with creativity and curiosity over the past weeks as we explored the wonders of science and history. In Science, we've been diving into the fascinating world of sound. Our students have actively engaged in hands-on activities, such as making telephones using cups and strings and crafting sound instruments like kazoos. These activities have been fun and helped our students understand the mechanics of how sound works. In HASS, we're exploring the concept of Past and Present. We learn how things have evolved and changed over time through various activities and discussions. Our students have been captivated by stories and examples of how everyday items and customs have transformed, giving them a deeper appreciation of history and progress.
We're incredibly proud of our student's efforts and the creative ideas they bring to each lesson. We look forward to all the fun experiences for the rest of the term!
Best regards, The ESC7 Team
It is hard to believe we are at the end of Term 3 already! This term, we welcomed Ms M back as our Friday teacher after completing her teacher practicum in ESC8 last term. This term, Ms M is teaching us about jobs in our local community for work skills and different modes of communication in person-centred planning (PCP).
We have enjoyed our new option classes this semester, which include Art, D&T, Home Economics, PE, and Computing. We have also started learning about new and exciting topics in class such as time and money in Maths, light and sound in Physical Sciences and past and present in HASS. In Health this term, we are enjoying the Peaceful Kids program. We are learning about the different parts of the brain and how mindfulness, meditation and breathing techniques can help us when feeling anxious.
In week four we began our term 3 CBL program to learn the Road Crossing Script in preparation for heading out into the community to further consolidate our travel, shopping, and community behaviour skills.
ESC8 also enjoyed a special treat with our very own, Hockeyroo two-time gold medal Olympian! Jackie Pereira, our Phys Ed EA, played in the 1988 & 1996 Olympics, winning gold and was also part of the World Cup-winning team! She also ran with the Olympic torch when Australia hosted the Olympics in 2000. ESC8 students held the torch, wore her medals and Olympic clothes, and watched some footage of Ms Pereira at the Olympics!
ESC8 have enjoyed the company of our school mascot plush, Tarak, for the first few weeks of the term. As a class team, we won the most points for Self-Responsibility and were acknowledged and awarded with Tarak at the Term 2 ESC assembly. Tarak has helped remind us of our school values during lessons and has comforted some. Tarak has now been returned and is visiting the next winning class.
In week 7, we enjoyed the annual ESC School Disco, which was Winter Wonderland-themed! It was a fun night to dance and socialise with our peers. Congratulations to Lily for winning ‘Best Dressed for her costume of ‘dead Elsa’!
We are looking forward to the Leeming SHS Athletics Carnival at the end of this term. It should be a great day with many achievements and USTAR values displayed.

Happy holidays everyone! We will see you in term 4.
Miss Gage.
Term 3 has been a busy one so far. During maths, we have been practising our money skills this term, adding up various amounts, comparing prices at the supermarket and calculating change using a calculator. We are improving our money skills daily by increasing our knowledge of place value.
We have started working on an exciting book to review this term in literacy called ‘Runt.’ Australian Author Craig Silvey writes this text, and the story is based in York, Western Australia. This story already grips us, and we can’t wait to find out what happens at the end. Lucky for us, this text has recently been adapted into a movie with an extensive Australian cast, and plan to see the movie at the end of term.
The Paris Olympics have been the talking point and focus of much of our learning over this term. We have developed our very own ESC9 Potato Olympics, where we all represent a country of choice to decorate our potatoes. We joined in with many Olympic events such as diving, target throwing, balancing, javelin and many more. It will be interesting to find out who our class podium winners will be at the end of term 3!!
Our focus for health this term is healthy eating. We started off the program by making a food journal over a week so that we could discuss the foods we eat and make sure we are eating a balanced diet. We also made healthy Turkish Kebabs in class, even putting together our own healthy honey soy marinade. They were so tasty, and our students were very proud of their efforts.

Best Wishes
From the team of ESC9.
ESC 11 - VICKY GIBSON/DAWN SUTHERLAND
Semester 2 has launched with enthusiasm and energy in ESC 11!
Students have been participating in Community-Based Learning (CBL) at Cockburn Gateways, where they have enjoyed exploring a new area and discovering the opportunities available there. In alternate weeks, our budding entrepreneurs have been busy with their class enterprise. They made and sold delicious toasties to other classes as part of their entrepreneurial education and fundraising efforts. This project has been a tremendous success, with all students actively engaged in both cooking and selling.

The Olympic Games have captured our attention this term in our HASS program. We are delving into the pros and cons of hosting the Olympics and following Australia’s impressive medal tally. In maths, students analyse and graph medal data, comparing this year’s performance with previous years to better understand trends and outcomes.
Students eagerly prepare for our camp in Week 9, which promises to be an adventure filled with memorable experiences.

I am looking forward to a fantastic term ahead!
Mrs. Gibson, Mrs. Sutherland, and the ESC 11 Team
I am thrilled to share some exciting updates and achievements from our Year 10 class. Our students have been working incredibly hard in all learning areas. Their dedication and enthusiasm have been truly inspiring.
This term, our mathematics lessons have centred around the practical and essential skill of measurement. The boys have shown remarkable progress and a keen interest in understanding and applying these concepts. From calculating areas and volumes to converting units and solving real-world problems, their hard work is paying off. It's wonderful to see their confidence grow as they master these important skills.
In addition to our classroom activities, we have been fortunate to participate in community-based training at Garden City. This hands-on experience has allowed the boys to apply their mathematical knowledge in real-life contexts, reinforcing their learning and showing them the practical applications of their studies. The sessions have been both educational and enjoyable, providing a valuable bridge between theory and practice.
A highlight of this term has been the introduction of our Notre Dame mentors. These mentors have brought a wealth of knowledge and experience, serving as role models and guides for our students. The boys are excited and motivated by the opportunity to learn from and interact with their mentors. We are already seeing the positive impact on their academic and personal development.
I am delighted to report that our students have achieved excellent results in the recent PAT-M (Mathematics Assessment Test) and PAT-R (Reading Assessment Test). These assessments are crucial to their progress, and the boys have performed exceptionally well. Their achievements reflect their hard work, determination, and the supportive learning environment we strive to create.
I am confident that our Year 10 class will build on these successes and continue to excel. We have more exciting activities and learning opportunities planned, and I look forward to seeing the boys further develop their skills and knowledge.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Together, we are making this a fantastic year of learning and growth for our students.
Warm regards
Tom Bakowski, Mrs Brayne, Miss Sooi, Mrs TJ, Miss Lomax
ESC 14 - LACHIE FREWER/TAMMY MEGRAIL
ESC14 has visited several fun locations this term as part of our CBL program. We spent several weeks visiting Kings Park to learn about the facilities at local parks. While there, we did a scavenger hunt to find different landmarks and discussed their purpose within the park. This included places such as the war memorial, the giant boab and the treetop walk. Pleasingly, everyone showed their bravery and walked across the treetop walk to take in the view. As part of our maths program, we will complete a fundraiser to raise money for the Smith Family Foundation. We will be running a sausage sizzle to raise money and take the opportunity to practice our barbeque skills while at Kings Park. We all took turns cooking, preparing rolls and serving hotdogs on paper towels.
We also went to Zone Bowling for an end-of-year excursion as a year 11 cohort. We had a great time together, and seeing all our USTAR values on display was pleasing.
Thank you to all our parents for attending the My Plan meetings. We came up with some fantastic future goals for all our students. I would also like to thank the staff of ESC14, Mrs Mac, Mrs Maunder, Ms Banks and Mrs Putland for their hard work and dedication this year. They have made our classroom a fun, engaging and educational place!

Have a great holiday break!
ESC15 has been experiencing many different things. The class has been developing their cooking skills, creating sandwiches, pizzas and pancakes over the last few weeks.
In English, we have been looking at the effects of bullying and creating eBooks, including videos demonstrating how bullying can look and what different strategies we can use in that situation.
In Maths, we have been looking at shapes, identifying their features, and locating objects in class and the community of that shape. We have been looking at what different application shapes have in the real world and using that information by taking a trip to the Aviation History Museum. Everyone looked at the other aeroplanes, studying their shape and looking at the propellers to see why they were the shape they were and how they assisted in the aircraft’s propulsion. There were no cube-shaped planes there for some reason.
We have also started planning for a class party, identifying how many food items we will be required to purchase based on the number of people in the class and their prices and creating a cost-effective budget.
In Bush Rangers, we have been looking at First Aid. We have been practising our DRSABCD to know how to respond safely when immediate action is required. A few students have found it a little nerve-racking or difficult, but seeing everyone participating and having a go has been great.
During Phys Ed, we played Ultimate Frisbee and practised athletics to develop our next Olympians. On the topic of the Olympics, Ms Pereira came in and showed everyone her Olympic medals and taught the class a bit of Olympic history, which they all enjoyed.
It's been an excellent start to the term, and I’m sure the back end will be just as great!

We have had a fantastic and busy term 3. Both the students and staff have been working hard to showcase excellence in everything we do, and we have had great achievements to portray our hard work.
This term, while studying science, we have learnt about various native animals within Australia, focusing on their behavioural and physical adaptations. In HASS, we researched the Olympic Games and moved on to the Paralympic Games, where we watched some fantastic athletes perform modified sports. In Bush Rangers, we have been learning about why certain animals are endangered and what is being done within Western Australia to help preserve our many beautiful species.
Our term culminated with our Year 9 camp to Point Peron. The camp was a fantastic experience for all the students, especially those who partook in their first-ever school camp. While on camp, we engaged in kayaking, beach safety, rock climbing and team games. We also had an interesting morning at the Rockingham Regional Environmental Centre, where we learnt about conservation in Rockingham and some cool reptiles.
Although we have already had a busy year, I cannot wait to discover what else our fantastic group can accomplish.
Mr Calasse and ESC16
ESC 17 students also began the Notre Dame Program during Phys Ed on Fridays. They are allocated buddies who have created a sports program for each student to develop their gross motor skills. Students are learning to be resilient and gain new skills.
In HASS, the students have been learning about the Olympics and Paralympics. The students did a medal tally for Australia. They researched and investigated the host country and learned about significant tourist landmarks in France and Paris. They also learned about the different sports played at the Olympics and watched live games athletes were participating in.
During Science this term, students have been learning about habitats and physical and behavioural adaptations of Australian animals like the Echidna, Koala, and Emu.
In Bush Rangers, the students learn to conserve the environment. They participated in an incursion on ‘Wetland Protection.’
In Week 8, the Year 9 girls attended a Career Taster Program on Fashion at Bentley Tafe. The students enjoyed participating and demonstrated USTAR values of Respect and Achievement. Students have participated in weekly Positive Behaviour Support lessons to reinforce the USTAR values of Unity, Self-Response, Teamwork, Achievement, and Respect.
Sports Carnival got postponed from Week 8 to Week 9, but this didn’t dampen the spirit of the students; they made beautiful posters for their teams.
Students have started travel training using the bus and train to Cockburn Gateways for CBL. Students have shown confidence and independence in navigating train stations and shopping centres.
There have been many emotions getting ready for the camp at Point Peron; some students were happy and excited, while others were anxious. Students created a book on the Code of Conduct for Camp.
I am so proud of my class as they have hosted the assembly with the other Year 9 students with great maturity. Well done, ESC 17! A big shout out to my excellent EAs, who have assisted in delivering my programs and providing our students with a safe and engaging learning environment.
Mrs Khosla
PHYS ED - MISS HEARD & MS PEREIRA
What an exciting term 3 we have had in PE! Students have been learning and developing their athletic skills in sports lessons, getting prepared for the carnival. Which house will be crowned the 2024 winner? Will Grady go back to back, or will Ramsdale, Aulberry, or Findlay take it home?!
In week 6, Leeming competed in the annual Kickability AFL carnival at Kalaminda Senior High School. We took two teams of selected students who demonstrated the USTAR values in their sports lessons. Congratulations to Leeming 1 for winning the carnival trophy and finishing first in their division! It was a fantastic day, and we cannot wait for next year's AFL carnival.
Congratulations to the students selected to represent our Leeming AFL team:
Issy Chia, Cameron Edwards, Katherleen Chen, Connor Crofts, Owen Edwards, Liam Felstead-Welch, Ebony Mackie, Jaylene Michaels, Ruby Trott, Lily Southgate, Ruby Edmondson, Cameron Millar, Scott Foo, Riley Green, Quinn Hancy, Tanish Jagapathi, Anisha Manokaran, James Parker, Austin Sarney and Ethan Yan.
The year 9’s and 10s have participated in the Notre Dame Physical Education Program this term. We had an excellent group of dedicated Notre Dame teaching students, who took our Leeming students for 1 on 1 Physical Education sessions across 10 weeks. Leeming students developed their skills in various sports and sportsmanship, teamwork, and socialisation. Notre Dame students prepared individualised sessions for our students and recorded their progress throughout their time at the University. Leeming would like to extend a massive thank you to the University of Notre Dame, especially Ben Piggott, Mark Claydon, and all of the 3rd year Health and PE students. Our Leeming students are thrilled to be involved in this program. We look forward to extending our partnership with the University of Notre Dame into 2025.
We look forward to the Athletics Carnival on Friday, week 9, before moving into the school holidays for a well-deserved break. Term 4 brings us the ESSN Athletics Carnival, Wildcats Basketball Carnival, Kalability Basketball Carnival, and the House Captain Leadership camp in Rottnest.

Miss Heard and Ms Pereira
A special mention goes to Rex and Jyrah, who have worked together as a team at Australia Post this semester. Each week, they demonstrate a positive and enthused approach to their work. They were delighted to share their thoughts on this retail industry placement:
Rex – “At Australia Post, I like doing boxes, and I have to make the boxes together, then I put the boxes in the correct area. I have thread parcel tags, and I like to put the parcels away and I clean the shelves. I like the people who work there”.
Jyrah – “I like cleaning at Australia Post and sorting the parcels. I like to put the boxes together and neaten up all the cards. I like to go to the food hall to get sushi at lunchtime and a cool drink. I like to say hello to the staff at Australia Post”.
We wish year 12 Sebastian Devlin all the very best during his Wednesday transitional program with Apace towards the beginning of next term. Sebastian is a very valued community member of the garden. An exciting next part of his journey in his post-school pathways.!
Congratulations to Isaac Wee for receiving the Employee of the Month award. Isaac has had such a positive start to his school-based traineeship in the hospitality industry with AYLA. He is proving to be an extremely hard worker, dedicated to completing tasks in record time, and always eager for what he can assist with next. Isaac’s supervisor has acknowledged his use of initiative and problem-solving in the workplace. Fantastic work!
Monday, week 9: In preparation for next term, Aiden Whait went with Mr B on a pre-placement excursion to IGA. Aiden was super excited and enthused to go! He was highly engaged during the tour before meeting and greeting store supervisors. Aiden is looking forward to replenishing and displaying stock next term as one of the first tasks he will be allocated. Before departing the workplace Aiden enjoyed an on-site morning tea. Way to go Aiden!
We want to welcome all the year ten students to the workplace learning program in term 4. We look forward to seeing how they find the varying industry placements they will experience.
Next term, we welcome some new host employers to our program: The Lolly Bus, Star Car Wash, Mercy Aged Care and Getaway Outdoors.
Wishing everyone a happy term three holiday break!
Workplace learning commences week 1 of term four.
Our semester has begun with students applying their artistic skills to large sheets of paper, employing various techniques such as painting, stamping, and creating insect rubbings. These initial artworks were then pooled together, forming a collective canvas of creativity.
Students worked collaboratively to deconstruct their shared artwork, tearing it into long, narrow strips. These strips were then carefully arranged and adhered to large pieces of paper, forming unique collaged backgrounds. These vibrant, textured surfaces set the stage for our "Oversized Animals" theme.
Building upon these dynamic backgrounds, students then crafted oversized features for their animals - large eyes, noses, or beaks - which were affixed to the collaged base. The final touch involved adding intricate details such as fur, whiskers, or feathers, bringing their animal creations to life.
This project has been a wonderful exploration of texture, scale, and collaborative art-making. We hope you find as much joy in viewing these pieces as we did in creating them!
