Leeming SHS ESC's school vision is to have a warm welcoming and connected community, recognised for our innovative programs and excellent school to community transition. On Friday 23rd June, our annual Pop-up Shop event highlighted the connection between Leeming SHS and Leeming SHS ESC, with many students from both schools integrating at the market stalls. Over 70 family and community members attended including Hon. Klara Andric MLC, representing the Minister for Education Hon. Tony Buti. During the term, students created their innovative business enterprises, showcasing science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) skills. On the day the school community was bursting with positive energy and students proudly sold their products, donating profits to a chosen charity.
During 27th May – 3rd June, we celebrated Reconciliation Week with a whole school poster competition using the theme “Be a Voice for Generations”. Students created beautiful artwork which was displayed in the school. Congratulations to all students and staff for embracing Reconciliation Week and to the class winners of the poster competition:

A reminder to students and families that it is a requirement for students to wear school uniform, I have noticed as the weather is becoming colder, some students are starting to wear hoodies and other jumpers that are not school uniform. Please support the school by ensuring your child is wearing the correct school uniform. If your child has sensory or other issues with the school uniform, please discuss this with the classroom teacher. Thank you for your support.
I congratulate our teachers and Education Assistants who have supported students to achieve their best this semester. Reading through student reports gave me a great sense of pride in our school and students should be very proud of their achievements. Reports have been sent home this week and I am sure you will be as proud as I am of your child’s achievements.
Thank you to all my wonderful staff, I hope you have a relaxing well deserved holiday break.
Hi Everyone, I hope you are all reaching the half way mark of the year, ok? I injured my hand a couple of weeks ago fairly badly and has made a big impact on my wellbeing from not being able to do even simple things. Wellbeing is a big focus at Leeming ESC and featured in many agenda item discussions at our most recent meetings for students, staff and our families such as:
The BE YOU Framework is being used to identify and measure current initiatives at Leeming ESC for students. Any opportunity you have to give feedback, complete school surveys etc, please try. Parent/Carer/Family feedback is vital to really address student wellbeing and to ensure the Education Department understand and appreciate the needs of our students in their decisions.
Student Services staffing is undergoing a review in order to fit the wellbeing needs of the school with broader current job descriptions such as Youth Worker or Family and Student Engagement Liaison Officer.
Building projects such as quiet spaces, classroom upgrades and playground equipment for sensory needs specific for our kids.
Networking and strengthening our connection to each other, other schools and other organisations is essential to understanding needs and using best practice for students. With school events to rebuild lost connections from Covid such as assemblies and the Pop Up Shop, a wide range of Parent Network topics scheduled, meetings with City of Melville, Leeming ESC Alumni, regional school networks and other ESC’s, Leeming ESC is striving to meet expectations whilst prioritising student wellbeing.
Many thanks,
Joss Morgan
Reports were sent electronically on Tuesday 27th June. The link for your child’s report lasts for 4 weeks but the document is available at any time in Connect, along with past School Reports. Should you require Connect login details to be resent, please email me on Kerryn.coles@education.wa.edu.au

Our annual Pop Up Shops were held last Friday, 23rd June 2023. Our students and staff put in a massive effort this year to make our annual Pop-Up Shops bigger than ever. We had approximately 70 family members visit, along with a large number of Leeming SHS students and staff. The products and stalls looked incredible. Part proceeds will be donated to various charities, chosen by our students. Thanks to everyone involved for putting on such an enjoyable event.

In the last few weeks of the term, we have been busy bees getting everything ready for the big event that we had on Friday 23rd – Pop-Up Shops! It was a massive success, and the students should be incredibly proud of the results. The morning was busy, including visits from many family members, peers from the mainstream and some local area businessmen and women. Our profits are going to the Motor-Neuron Disease WA charity, to which we are donating over half of our profits ($150!). We hope this donation assists with research in preventing and curing this disease.

Next term is going to be another hectic one, with events occurring almost weekly! Our Year 11 boys will be starting at their new WPL placements which begin in Week 1. They have all been briefed on their new placements and have had their meetings etc. We cannot wait to hear about them at the end of Week 1.
Stay tuned for more news from ESC 1.

Students in ESC2 have had a busy and productive term in all areas of the curriculum. The students have been attending Striker Indoor Sports and Fitness Centre in preparation for their introduction to Workplace Learning. This program has given them a taste of how it feels to be in the workforce. They have learnt many new skills and are all showing signs of potentially being responsible employees in the future. Thank you to staff working with the students all week to promote success stories in all areas of the curriculum.
Preparation for Pop-Up Shops has caused quite a frenzy during the term. With our very creative thinkers in the group, we saw Isaac and Rohan dress as clowns to spruik the sale of the terrific juggling balls. Gurman offered to play the keyboard to welcome all visitors to the market area. Pure talent! Coby, Evan and Thomas played a vital role in promoting the sale of goods by manning the stall and encouraging people to purchase our scented soaps and buy raffle tickets. Jake was absent on the day but had played a full role in helping to produce all that was on offer. What a team effort!

This class is going from strength to strength. It's exciting to think what the rest of the year has in store for us and the wonderful range of developing skills that these students will put on display for us all to see. Big welcome to Samuel Wu who has only just come back to the class. We all missed you Samuel and we're so happy to have you back.
Finally, farewell to our wonderful Education Assistant Chloe Jones who is leaving to embrace the next exciting chapter of her life, welcoming a new precious little addition to her life very soon. Best wishes from the students and staff, Chloe. You will be so missed. Thank you for your amazing efforts which have never gone unnoticed. Enjoy motherhood!
Best wishes to students and families for a happy and safe holiday.
Johanna Lee - Relief Teacher
Time has gone so quick, and it is hard to believe that it is half way through the year already. It has been yet another busy term in ESC 3. This term we had constant change in staffing yet I’m super proud of how well our students adapted to the situation. This term, we had to say goodbye to Ms Farmer who is in Victoria until the end of Term 3 and we look forward seeing her back in Term 4. We are also eternally grateful to Mrs Kosc for stepping in to support us during this time.
As part of the Bush Ranger Program our students have created a diorama of the different ecosystems. They also learnt the importance of maintaining the ecosystem and its impact on our natural environment.
In Maths, students have been working in further developing their number and money skills. In CBL, students are also getting more familiar with travel plans. They have been learning to identify landmarks, demonstrate appropriate behaviour when using public transport and demonstrate awareness of how to use information kiosks.
We have been working hard for our Pop-Up Shop. We created fairy lights in bottles and made lots of muffins and showcased Janelle’s talents at her very own braiding station. We have raised just under $500 and part of the proceeds will go to Starlight Foundation. Here are some photos of the key highlights of this term.

On behalf of all the staff, we wish you a safe and happy holiday.
Kaya (hello),
The classroom has been immersed in Auslan key sign and Aboriginal Education this term. The students greet staff and peers with finger spelling and have been continuing to practise signing our school Acknowledgment of Country. We celebrated Reconciliation Week, encompassing Sorry Day, and the Mabo Decision, sharing many stories to deepen our knowledge on Aboriginal history, encompassing the stolen generation and land rights. The class created a poster to showcase their learning and they won the ‘Senior School Reconciliation Poster Competition’. We finished the term with a fun day of wearing the Aboriginal colours red, black, and yellow to celebrate and enjoy NAIDOC activities to recognise Elders. "Across every generation, our Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place in our community”.

Students have been doing a wonderful job in caring for their plants, class herb garden and maintaining the Aboriginal Garden. Students used the plants and herbs in their cooking and have discovered the flora connection to the Noongar Six Seasons and how nature supplies not only food, but medicine and natural materials that can be used to make tools, homes, and items for everyday sustainable living.
The class worked incredibly hard to create their Noongar Six Season calendars, Acknowledgment of Country artwork, bookmarks, jigsaw puzzles, potted herbs, and plants, along with their delicious cheese and bush tucker herb scrolls. These were a huge success at the Pop-up Shop. Thank you to the many families that came along to purchase items and support the class projects.

We have also enjoyed a great semester going to Strikers for work experience on Tuesdays. The students have shown all our USTAR values each week doing a variety of jobs such as vacuuming, folding bibs, wiping down gym equipment and many more. We send a big thank you to Glenda at Strikers for being a great supervisor and we look forward to going into Term 3 and exploring other job possibilities.
What a wonderful term! Thank you to the hard-working students; Ari, Ethan, Willem, Patrick, Tehzeeb, Jai, Brock and Sheona, and wonderful educators, Lisa Palma, Katy Blacklock and Jaimee Coles for their handwork, positivity, and commitment to making a difference every day.
Wishing you all a safe, restful, and enjoyable, two week- break.
Thank you! Boorda (bye)
Well that’s a wrap on Semester 1! Hasn’t that gone quick?! This term has been very exciting culminating with an excellent day at Pop-Up Shop. All the boys did an amazing job making all the items throughout the term and they looked even better on display. They made a range of amazing items such as juggling balls, Chinese drums, hanging mobiles and much more. A special thanks to Mrs Bruns who organised a lot of the creative flare in organising and choosing the items to make. The students also showcased their customer service and money handling skills they have been working on, to all their friends and family. We received great feedback from all the customers at how well presented out shop looked and how well-mannered everyone was. Well done, boys!

Our Outdoor Ed students went on excursions out to the Canning River Eco Education Centre. Where they worked on their leadership skills, orienteering and environmental investigation skills with Mr Holdsworth. In Computing they have been creating their own podcast with Miss Heard on a topic of their choice. Kaelan made his podcast on presidents of the U.S.A and Owen made his on the new Spiderman movie. The staff and students have been really enjoying cooking each Wednesday. It has become one of the highlights of the week. This term in maths, the class has been working really hard on their money handling skills, working at recognising all the denomination of Australian coins and notes. Some students have been adding up groups of coins and even working out how to give change, in preparation for our Pop-Up Shop.
On Behalf of the ESC 5 teaching team, we wish all the families a wonderful holiday break and we look forward to seeing you all back refreshed and ready to learn next term!
Mr Limpus, Mrs Bruns, Mrs Louise and Mr Kosc
Term 2 has been fantastic in ESC 6. In the second half of this term we commenced going to Bull Creek Central Shopping Centre on Transperth. For some of us, this was our first time using public transport! We did a great job and really enjoyed the different activities we completed for CBL, such as finding different items in Woolworths, navigating Target, recording the community services provided at the centre and - most excitingly, buying yummy food and drinks! The staff were very proud of all students, as they demonstrated the Leeming ESC USTAR values throughout.
We have been working hard at our Maths and English this term. We have recalled our weekend news and practised our writing and speaking skills. We have been focusing on our reading comprehension every Wednesday morning and one of our students has also been attending a maths extension program – learning algebra! In maths we have been focusing on our number skills, looking at multiplication and division concepts. We have also focused on money in the lead up to the Pop-Up Shops!
We also spent the latter half of this term busily preparing for the Pop-Up Shops. We have looked forward to Pop-Up Shop day all term and made painted canvases, reusable bags, gift bags and cards. We enjoyed selling our crafts at our stall – ESC 6 Glorious Gifts. We also enjoyed visiting all the other class stalls and seeing the fabulous items on offer.
The ESC 6 students were asked what their favourite part of Term 2 was:
Ruby E: I liked going to dancing.
Ruby R: I enjoyed after school Bush Rangers.
Sarah: I liked going to dancing.
Thomas: I enjoyed the pop up shops.
Isabel: I liked having strawberry milkshakes on CBL.
Jaylene: I enjoyed after school Bush Rangers.
Jade: I liked doing art for the Pop-Up Shops.
Grace: I liked going to Bull Creek for CBL and eating sushi for lunch.
Maleyk: I liked selling my artworks at the Pop-Up Shops.
We can’t quite believe we are half way through the year! Miss Blackburn, Mrs Bregger and Miss V would like to thank Ms Enright for her help this term. In exciting news, ESC 6 are looking forward to having our new EA start with us for Semester 2! We thank Mrs Owen for her role in Term 1 and wish her luck in her new classroom.
What a fun and busy term we have had in ESC 7! Our students were kept busy over the last few weeks preparing pet toys for our enterprise. We were very excited to see our “Happy Paws” toys sell out just after the first hour! It was a wonderful day with a huge turnout from families, friends, and community locals! Well done to all classes for the huge amount of planning & preparation.
We are looking forward to beginning our CBL outings next term into the community and practicing functional life skills.
I want to thank our amazing Education Assistants, Mrs Buchanan, Mrs Maunder and Mrs C, for all their hard work and extra hours over the semester. The students are so incredibly lucky to have such supportive and caring staff.
Wishing all the students and families a safe and warm holiday break. Looking forward to an exciting Term 3!
Mrs Bartlett
ESC8 have been working hard this term to complete our key chains and lanyards ready to sell at the Pop-up shops. All students in class worked so hard at every step, creating such amazing products. Well done to our students as our creations were a great success.
We have welcomed a new EA into our classroom this term, Miss Sherlock. She has been getting to know our students and has settled into ESC 8 very well. She looks forward to working with us until the end of the year.
We have been getting students ready in class to begin Community Based Learning next term through many road awareness theory lessons and engaging activities to ensure we are all safe and ready to access our local community. All students are so looking forward to adding CBL to our timetable for next term and we all can’t wait for another great semester of learning.

Have a wonderful break,
The ESC8 team
Term 2 has just flown by, it’s almost hard to believe we are on the cusp of Semester 2 already! In Week 8, ESC9 began preparation for the annual Pop-Up Shops. We worked extremely hard and started the production process for our product; Silly Putty! We demonstrated fantastic teamwork and work skills by following a recipe to make the putty, keeping track of our products using an inventory and packaging the products appropriately and attaching the labels. We marketed and advertised our products, leading up to the event, by displaying posters around the centre.
In Week 9 the Pop-Up Shops arrived, and we all looked so professional in our Silly Putty t-shirts. Our stall looked awesome, and everyone did a fantastic job at following a work schedule to know when we were on stall duty and when we had shopping time at the other awesome stalls! We kept track of our selling products using an inventory, and handled money and gave our customers their change when necessary.
It was a HUGE success and our stall was very popular. Altogether we made a profit of $399 and donated $309 of the profit to Autism Association. We will use the remaining amount of the profit to go towards an end of term party to celebrate all of our achievements. Well done, ESC9!

Happy Term 2 holidays everyone! I am looking forward to seeing everyone in person for our Semester 2 parent meetings.
Miss Gage
This term feels like it has absolutely flown by. In ESC 10 we have been very busy, it is nice to sit down and reflect on all that we have accomplished this term and throughout the semester.
The students worked very hard to create some fantastic items to sell at our annual Pop-Up Shop. We spent weeks making pies (which were a major hit), flags, hair ties and decorative socks. All of these items sold very well and we made a significant amount of money which we will donate to charity. I would like to thank all those people who bought from our stall and supported the day. I would also like to give a special mention to Tommy’s grandma and grandad who took on the role of sales assistant’s to help us sell as many pies as possible.
Throughout this semester, students have been developing their skills to make stories interesting using descriptive language when describing a character, setting and plot. All their hard work will come together next term as the students will endeavour to write a short story.
We are also looking forward to going out on CBL next term for the first time, as well as a Year 7 camp which is on the horizon… watch this space.
Thank you to all parents and carers who are so supportive. I hope you all enjoy your holidays. A big thank you, as usual, to my wonderful team of Kristy Hewer, Sarah Russell and Karlene Wynd who support me and the students every day. They make the classroom run smoothly and bring energy and joy to each day.
Thank you
Jack Drennan
What an amazing Term 2 everyone in ESC11 has had! We have all continued to work very hard to maintain a good routine and workload, while also remembering to have fun and share some jokes. It has been wonderful to see all nine students join in with the class banter and let their personalities shine.
During this term, the boys have been lucky to go on a few excursions as part of our Bush Ranger program. In Week 3 we travelled to Kings Park and explored the amazing Botanical Gardens and paid our respects at the beautiful ANZAC Memorial. In Week 5 we travelled to Piney Lakes Reserve where we spoke with a local Park Ranger about his roles and responsibilities and were treated to a private tour of a fire truck from the City of Melville community. Another one of our focuses for Term 2 has been our business enterprise. This year we created our very own carnival games and chose a groovy name to suit… The Carnival Boys!
I have been very proud of all nine boys this term and I can’t wait to see how everyone in ESC11 will shine for the rest of the year!!
Mr Calasse and Team ESC11
ESC 12 - DEEPIKA KHOSLA & TIM HARRIES
It has been a wonderful second half of Term 2 with our ESC12 students. I have really enjoyed working with this dynamic group of young people and their amazing supportive team of professional EAs! We all welcome back Mrs Khosla who has now returned as the teacher for this class.
In Term 2, ESC 12 have enjoyed learning further about Indigenous culture, learning about the six Noongar seasons, and creating artwork that has represented our current wet season of Makuru. Our Aboriginal heritage learning was a key part of our Pop-Up Shop success, in selling both fridge magnets and bookmarks carefully dot painted by the students in various attractive traditional colours.
The Pop-Up Shop event was a significantly positive dynamic event for all involved, and was supported by the hard work of all of our students to pot many plants for sale, and to work with a roster on the day to ensure our stall sold many of our items. Our fridge magnets were very popular, and as a class with our very affordable items, we raised over $100 for charity. As our appealing items required very little cost to create, all this money was able to be donated.
Students have continued Community-Based Learning to Southlands Shopping Centre, and participated in an excursion to Piney Lakes, where they were treated to a talk by experienced firefighters, and some were even able to sit in a fire truck! Once again students have demonstrated appropriate behaviours in our community, showing respect and kindness to all people they have interacted with. They worked effectively as a group to learn about the costs of fruits and vegetables at the supermarket, along the way learning about the importance of a healthy diet. Travel training has continued well, with students becoming more familiar and comfortable with the needs of traveling on the public transport system.
A big thank you to our hardworking EAs, Ms Banks, Ms Mac, Mrs Drinan, Mrs P and Ms L who welcomed me to ESC12 and supported our class to have a successful Term 2. We also welcome a new member of staff Miss Angel Dale to our wonderful class. I wish you all well in going forward with the remainder of the term!

Mr Harries
As Term 2 draws to a close, ESC 13 staff and students can look back with satisfaction on what has been a busy and productive term. Students have been working hard these past 10 weeks and have made great inroads across the curriculum.
Some highlights from the term include:
- The ‘New Beginning to an Old Story’ activities in Week 2.
This was a time when students and staff came together to create pathways to embrace, acknowledge, share, teach and celebrate the past, present and future knowledge of the First Nations People. Students and staff engaged in a range of interesting hands-on activities celebrating the rich culture of the First Nations People, including: mural painting, Dreamtime stories, art, puzzles and books in the garden, and artefacts presentation.
- Year 11 Assembly: The Year 11 students ran the whole school assembly in Week 5. Despite first night nerves, wobbly knees and voices, the Year 11 students did a stellar job to produce a drama free, informative, and well-polished assembly.
- Pyjama Friday
Staff and students could sleep in a bit on ‘Wear your PJ’s to School’ day- as no work/school clothing change was necessary first thing in the morning- simply wake up and go! Best on the day in ESC 13 had to go to Toby with his colourful Pikachu onesie. A close runner up was Ethan with his Super Mario Brothers ensemble. Well done, gentleman.
- CBL: The class CBL visits to Garden City Shopping Centre, were part of the ASDAN subjects Out in the Community and Money Introduction. These excursions provided students with some time to practise valuable life skills such as using public transport, accessing the community, and handling money.
The students have enjoyed experiencing the freedom to explore different shops, facilities and eating venues at Westfield Booragoon, as well as having a day out of the classroom.

Here is what the students had to say about Term 3:
Luke K - This term I really enjoyed CBL we went to Garden City. I liked the train ride, and the bus ride we walk around the shopping centre. This term I visited Active Property Care and spoke to the boss about what they do there I get to hold a whipper snipper and other tools. I think I would enjoy working there and I already passed my white card.
Ryan D - This term I enjoyed Sport, the Egg Drop Challenge and Music. I liked WPL at Richmond Primary School canteen.
Nick F - This term I liked workplace learning. I go to Activ Property Care and l enjoyed working outside, gardening in the community.
Toby V - This term I really liked WPL- I have been working at the pharmacy. I enjoy learning different things in class.
Joaquin - This term I liked going to Apace for WPL. I loved being outside in the garden. I also enjoyed music with Mrs Damos. Music makes me feel happy
Isaiah L - This term I enjoyed doing music lessons. I learned different rhythms and I had lots of fun. I also like my work placement learning. I like work at Branden's Shredding.
Ryley S - This term I really liked going to Bunnings for WPL. I had fun doing the Egg Drop Challenge
Wishing students and families a safe, relaxing, and happy school holiday.
This term, students explored Fremantle during Community-Based Learning excursions. They researched sights they would like to see and created a timetable for their group’s days out. This included visiting The Fremantle Prison, The Round House, Fremantle Library, Church, and Esplanade Park.

A class favourite was the marine-based program run by Cicerello’s. Students loved seeing the largest private aquarium in WA. Some even held Sea Apples and Sea Stars and examined Port Jackson Shark eggs!
Below are the students’ highlights from their Fremantle visits;
Zach – I liked visiting the lolly shop, eating fish and chips, and exercising on the parkour equipment
Ayrton – I liked holding the star fish and having fish and chips for lunch
Nekoda - I liked the chicken and chips
Sam – I enjoyed visiting The Roundhouse and the view from there with the cannon
Hanna – I liked feeding the smelly fish at Cicerellos
Tammy Megrail & Team
We are at the end of our first semester of Year 11 already!
ESC 15 is a wonderful group of senior school students all with their own skills and attributes they bring to the classroom.
I have been especially proud of the students’ attitude towards WPL and CBL. Each week we get to hear about everyone’s experiences at WPL and it is lovely to see the class asking each other questions about their experiences.
I have had lots of fun while out on CBL. We have visited Raine Square for a bubble tea and lunch. We have also been for trips to the Art Gallery of Western Australia and the WA museum Boola Bardip. We didn’t want to leave the art gallery, we were having such a good time at the Exquisite Bodies exhibition. At the museum we participated in a scavenger hunt. Next term we will continue visiting Perth City and the class are planning a trip to Optus Stadium.

I can hardly believe it but we are already finishing up our first semester for the 2023 school year. As a result, we are also finishing our final days at our current work places. We would like to thank the Work Place Learning team and host employers for organising such amazing placements and the supervisors for making this such a great learning experience.
ESC16 has created a business enterprise selling bliss balls, which we sold at the school’s Pop-Up Shops. This was a fantastic day and all of our hard work throughout the year really paid off. Pleasingly we were able to completely sell out of our products! Congratulations to everyone who took part in the day and thanks to everyone for their support.
As the semester draws to a close, I would like to thank the wonderful families for all their hard work. We have so many students actively engaging with so many different programs that will continue beyond school and it is exciting to hear all the new opportunities being taken in Semester Two. Finally, I would like to thank the education assistants of ESC16 Tanya Payne, Deb Hugo, Tiana Lomax, Fraser Turner and Henry Council. Their dedication to working with our students has been fantastic all semester.
Have a safe and happy holiday break and we will see you in semester 2!
ESC 17 - STEFFI VARGHESE & MONISHA SUNIL
We are delighted that Term 2 has reached its conclusion, and what an incredible journey it has been! The past few months have been filled with exciting experiences, valuable learning, and countless memories.
One of the highlights of Term 2 was the thrilling science experiment in which our students had a blast creating their very own volcanoes. Under the guidance of our dedicated teachers, they eagerly combined ingredients and witnessed the spectacular eruptions firsthand. The excitement and joy on their faces as they watched the vibrant lava flow down the volcano was truly unforgettable. This hands-on experience not only brought science to life but also fostered teamwork and ignited a passion for exploration and discovery.
In our HASS lessons, we embarked on an enriching journey of learning the Noongar language, the indigenous language of the local Noongar people. As part of this immersive experience, our students enthusiastically delved into the Noongar culture and language, particularly focusing on naming various animals in their Noongar counterparts. Through interactive activities and engaging discussions, our students not only expanded their linguistic skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage of our region. It was a truly enjoyable and enlightening experience that fostered a sense of respect and understanding for the indigenous traditions and languages that enrich our community.
As we bid farewell to Term 2, we eagerly anticipate the start of a new chapter in Term 3. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for us as a class in Term 3.
Happy Holidays!!
PHYS ED - MISS HEARD, MR HOLDSWORTH & MS PEREIRA
During Term 2, the year 9 students have participated in the ‘Rising Leaders Program’ run by the Stephen Michael Foundation. The program involves all year 9 students, taking part in a range of team building, problem solving and leadership activities in the classroom and out playing sport. The activities have been super fun, with some highlights being - blind fold obstacle courses, tower building and designing a super-hero and pyramid cups. Students have been encouraged to cooperate in small groups, working as a team to complete the tasks. During the sport sessions, our students have participated in AFL, soccer, basketball, learning new skills and advancing into modified games. It has been an extremely valuable experience for the year 9’s. We would like to thank Andrew, Maddie, Terry, Simba, Jorelle and Ezra for hosting this inclusive program, for our students.

We are looking forward to the inaugural Leeming ESC Soccer Tournament, being held on the last day of term. Classes will go head-to-head, competing to be crowned the LESC Soccer Champions! Our House Captains have been working hard, preparing for the event by delivering nomination forms to classes, assisting with field set up/ design and preparing equipment. There will be a sausage sizzle and staff vs. students game, to end the day, before heading into the holidays.

The Workplace Learning Employee of the Month has been awarded to Zachary Mustard. He was the worthy recipient for a very successful semester with the TDL Landscaping team at Optus Stadium. The onsite supervisor reported that he is a motivated worker, and his confidence and skill set improved throughout the placement. Congratulations to Zac!
A special mention to Aidan Mulchrone. This semester he has worked very hard sorting items from the moving conveyor belt at Good Sammy. He took on the challenge of increased time in the workplace for multiple shifts. Aidan is a super star worker!
In preparation for next semester’s placement with Activ Property Care Luke Koza has obtained his White Card. He put in a lot of hard work to complete the modules leading up to the final assessment. Well done to Luke!
Year 11 student Cameron Crnobrnja will be commencing a Certificate II Retail School Based Traineeship with AYLA next semester. In Week 9 he attended a pre-placement site tour and induction in preparation. We wish Cameron all the very best with this exciting opportunity!
This is what Cameron had to say “I like that it is a quieter place than Bunnings. The people seemed really nice, and I am looking forward to doing sales with money “.

We are privileged to have the Water Corp back on-board next semester. They are offering Year 12 student Makenzie Alcock a wonderful opportunity with their Safety and Wellbeing Department. Makenzie will be gaining skills in administration throughout the placement. Makenzie has been to site to meet with her new team and check out her office space!
This is what Makenzie had to say “When I work at the Water Corporation I am looking forward to booking meeting rooms, working on Powerpoint presentations and checking site staff qualifications “.

We wish all students and families a fantastic school holiday break and look forward to the workplace learning program re-commencing on the Wednesdays from Week 1 of Term 3.
