I would like to welcome everyone to the 2023 school year and extend a special welcome to year 7 students and their families. Students have transitioned well into the new school year with the positive support of staff and families. I look forward to seeing year 7 and 8 families at a special morning tea being held on Wednesday 29th March. This will be an opportunity to meet and network with other families. A flyer will be sent home with further information about the event.
We are very excited to have a dedicated group of new staff members join our Leeming ESC community this year.

On Friday 17 February, our year 12 students enjoyed their school ball at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle. Thank you to Ms Megrail, Mr Frewer and Ms Payne for organising the school ball and to the many staff that assisted on the night. Your organisation and support was amazing, everyone had a fantastic night full of dancing and great food!
Well done to our school councillors Oscar, Phillip and Anisha for hosting the first school assembly on Monday 27th February. The student leaders did a brilliant job, demonstrating their leadership qualities and confidence. It was lovely to be joined by the Leeming Senior High School student councillors who assisted with the assembly. They enjoyed the positive energy and we hope to see them regularly attend all our assemblies this year.
The School Board met for the first meeting of the 2023 school year on Monday 20th February. Board Chair, Joss Morgan introduced and welcomed our new parent representatives; Rebecca Joyce and Olivia Sjahrir. We are very fortunate to have a collaborative Board with diverse skills and backgrounds. As a Board we meet twice a term to establish and review the Business Plan priorities and the financial planning to meet these priorities and directions.

The need for strong community engagement and effective communication methods so that we can really understand what’s going on, what the problems are, and what plans should we make are important. Leeming ESC Board are working hard to assist the school build relationships with the wider community, especially local councils (our students come from 6!). We are working with the school to identify the best ways to connect with families, such as preferred communication methods, and what questions to ask of everyone, so that the next strategic plan (2023-2026) is the best we can help produce.
In spite of my nerves in Chairing, our first board meeting went really well. Our new members Olivia (Liv) and Rebecca are a great fit and bring an energy and enthusiasm we will all benefit from. Leeming has a history of extraordinary teaching staff, and our new Board Reps of Kerryn and Emma are perfect examples. With a great mix of old and new members, we are set to have a year of dynamic, thoughtful planning. Our first meetings always cover board requirements, to ensure we know what our job is, and how to do it. We had a huge agenda:
- Chris Chambers dropped in via zoom to give a situation report of the Leeming ESC Alumni innovation that PwDWA are assisting us in developing. We will be having a separate info session for families very soon.
- Keran outlined The Department of Education Focus for 2023 and the Statement of Expectation. This will inform our next business plan, as will past and ongoing feedback from families.
- Building stronger connections with families is a big focus for the board and the school, especially from the impacts that Covid has had on these. Rebecca and Liv are keen to work with the school alongside our other parent members Raelene and Bernadette to create opportunities such as parent reps, morning teas, and build on other events such as Leeming Parent/Carer Support Group Facebook
- Building works such as quiet areas and replacement/installation of new smartboards are progressing as timely and on budget as possible under the eagle eye of Evelyn although tradies are still as plentiful as unicorns.

Best wishes for Term 1
Last Friday, 24th February, we said 'bon voyage' to our very own Louisa Franceschini-Piil. We wish her all the best on her travels around Australia. We look forward to hearing about her adventures over the coming months.
Our first event for 2023 was the Year 12 Ball, which was held on Friday 17th February 2023, at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle. Well done to the staff and students on a successful event. You all looked amazing!

Congratulations to the Beau & Belle of the Ball
Samuel Seaman & Karleigh Evans
Our new councillors for 2023 have been incredibly busy, attending Student Council House Group every day and hosting our first assembly. Anisha, Phillip and Oscar did a tremendous job. Oscar started his term early with a Leadership Workshop at the Leadership Insitute in Leederville in the last week of the school holidays. He met with other State Council members and raised issues facing WA students with the Director General, Lisa Rogers. Osar will be attending the first ever State Student Council Camp this weekend, where the councillors will formulate their proposals to present to the DG and Minister for Education, they will conclude camp as guests at the International Women's Day Breakfast at the Optus Stadium River Room on Wednesday.
ESC 4 ENTERPRISE - NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY & SHROVE TUESDAY

On Tuesday, 21 February 2023, our Enterprise ESC 4 class made yummy pancakes to sell to students and staff during recess. Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Thank you to our Enterprise ESC 4 class and everyone who treated themselves and supported this great cause.
What a fantastic start to 2023 we have had! Leeming Link is now only running during lunch breaks as it seems our Chaplain, Ms Vangi is truly irreplaceable! We have had some terrific year 7s from the high school join us to help with running activities which has been fantastic. The fruit platter made by Seb was a winner in his class after reading "Pirahna's Don't Eat Bananas".

A BIG hello from ESC 1 for 2023! This rambunctious group of boys have been extremely busy in the first five weeks of Year 11. From learning about how to be safe in the community and how to get their learners permit, to being out on Community Based Lifeskills in Fremantle and tackling their P-Units in English and Math.
Every Friday we host a social group to celebrate our weekly successes and chat about of upcoming weekend plans, this has been met with positive vibes and behaviour over the last few weeks. I must commend my students on their determination to be positive role models within the school and community.
It has been a big transition for some of the staff in ESC 1, as a few of us have just joined the Senior School life! A big shoutout to everyone’s support while we learn the ropes!
Check out some of our happy snaps and stay tuned for much more!

ESC 1 Crew
Ms Knox, Ms Xavier, Miss Riley and Miss Patterson
It has been a productive and positive start to the 2023 school year in the Year 10.1 classroom. My students have been great and many thanks to my strong and cohesive team for their dedication and professionalism.
We have adopted an integrated approach to functional literacy and numeracy instruction this term. Students have been engaged in a wide range of learning activities in literacy and numeracy according to their individual learning needs and abilities. In our mathematics classroom, students often spend the first few minutes of the lesson on tackling mental maths problems. So far this term, students have been busy exploring arrays to enhance their multiplicative thinking while others have been engaged in solving algebraic equations to improve upon their problem-solving skills. With a focus on functional numeracy, students have participated in mock shopping exercises this term. Given different amounts of money to spend, students employed Woolworths’ catalogues as a guard for working out their expenditure and ensuring they stayed on budget.
In English/literacy, spelling and reading comprehension have been strong areas of interest for students. As part of our literacy program this term, students have been encouraged to have a dream for their future and come up with a plan/strategy for the realisation of their dreams. This is in acknowledgement of the fact that “dreams can become a reality when we possess a vision that is characterized by the willingness to work hard, a desire for excellence, and a belief in our rights and our responsibility to be equal members of society”. Formulation of a written vision on a personal vision board. Makes their vision clear and visible, reminding students daily to work hard towards accomplishing their individual goals for the future. Students have also had opportunities to practise resume writing in preparation for their future employments.
In E-Safety, students have been busy learning how to keep personal information safe. They have explored various strategies of protecting personal and private information while surfing the internet. As part of the process of safeguarding their information online, students learned to create strong personal passwords and practised sending emails to their peers.
Under the Workright program, students have been learning a wide range of workplace skills in preparation for future employment opportunities (having researched their chosen industry to identify the specific skills and qualities needed for that industry). These include learning how to use the vacuum cleaner, washing machine and dryer efficiently. They also completed activities on Health and Safety in the workplace, identifying potential hazards and how to deal with them amongst other skill areas.
The students had a great start to the new school year. They have settled in beautifully into the new routine and set expectations. I am so amazed and impressed with how well students have adapted to changes. ESC 3 has an amazing team with Mrs Mahalingam, Ms Farmer and Mrs Shivers. We are also impressed with the high standard of positive teamwork and independence displayed by the students.
The students have been enjoying a range of new option classes ranging from Dance, STEAM, Computing, D & T and Cooking. Here are some of the thoughts from our student about the start of the new school year.
Archer – I like going to school. I get to see all my friends and teachers. My favourite subject is Music and I have been learning to play the drum. I look forward to seeing Mrs Damos.
Adriano - I like my new teachers. My favourite subject is cooking.
Izzie- I like my new teachers. My favourite subjects are E-safety, Art and playing sports.
Corbin – I enjoyed going to Striker for work experience and participating in Horticulture and music lessons.
Goldie- Although I miss my old classroom, I like my new class. My favourite subjects are cooking and reading.
Janelle – I like my new class. My favourite subjects are Literacy, Math and music. I like learning about the different instrument with Mrs Damos.
Phillip – I miss my first male teacher, Mr Drennan, but I like my current class as I get to hang out with my best friend, Corbin. My favourite subjects are Art, Digitec and Horticulture.
Billy – I like my new class. The teachers are cool.
Our students have also started to advocate their views through the Person Centred Programs (PCP) in preparation for their My Plans. It has been lovely to finally meet most of our parents at the My Plan meetings. Your input has been invaluable, and I look forward to working with you.
From ESC 3
Ms Parwani, Mrs Shivers, Ms Farmer, Mrs Mahalingam
ESC 4 would like to warmly welcome back the Year 10 students and their families. It has been wonderful to see the students reconnecting with each other, and this bond is enhancing their skills to work collaboratively in pairs and small groups. We are very fortunate to have an amazing team this year consisting of myself Mrs Vann, Mrs Blacklock, Ms Palma and Miss Coles.
The students have been working hard to increase their technology skills, learning to access work activities on the Connect Grid and Seesaw. All the students have been learning about what is personal information and how we keep that information safe while we are communicating online as part of their E-Safety ASDAN module. We have also been doing lots of jobs in the classroom and around the school to get ready for work placement at Strikers starting week 5.
As part of our enterprise, we have been very busy with researching recipes and finding out how much ingredients will cost and sending emails to staff at the school so we can sell our products. We have made Valentines Day chocolate spoons, which were a great hit with all the staff. The students made a profit that they can put towards buying plants that they are going to take care of, and watch grow. We also made pancakes on Pancake Day and the students really took the lead writing up the recipe, finding out how much the ingredients will cost and deciding how much to sell them for. We are all proud of the teamwork and self-responsibility they showed while completing these tasks.
ESC 4 are also very fortunate to be doing swimming this term at Port Coogee beach as part of their PE program. They have been learning about beach safety and what you would do if you or someone else was needing help while in the water. It is great to watch the students become more confident and independent in and around the water.
In Bush Rangers this term, our focus is Working Safely in Natural Environments. We have talked about what personal protective equipment (PPE) we would need in different workplaces and when we are out in nature. We have been looking at hazards, risks, health effects and what we can do to keep safe.
All the staff and students have had a very busy and fun start to the year and are all excited about staring our work placement at Strikers, going out on CBL and continuing with our Friday swimming program. We would like to acknowledge and thank, each student. They have returned and settled into a new routine and are to be commended on the high standard of positive teamwork and responsibility displayed. Well done!
We look forward to a busy and exciting year.
Lorraine Vann, Katy Blacklock, Lisa Palma and Jaime Coles
Welcome to 2023! ESC5 have had an excellent start to the year coping with the new faces in the classroom. I would like to introduce the new team Mr Kosc, Mrs Bruns and Miss Louise. It has been a busy time of year getting the classroom set up and with the students undertaking baseline assessments.
Our students have spent time getting to know each other and engaging in social games. As a group we have worked together to create a class code of conduct for Bush Rangers. They have loved cooking pizza scrolls in cooking and improving their skills during basketball.
Our students also got to make delicious raspberry lamingtons to give to their parents/carers (I hope they actually made it home for you all).
This semester, the students will have had an excellent opportunity to mix with their peers from other classes as they rotate between our classroom and Miss Gage and Miss Blackburn’s classrooms to learn about HASS, Health and Science.
The unity and teamwork that the students have shown thus far is extremely encouraging and we look forward to sharing all our work with you throughout the year.
Thank you,
Brett Limpus
Wow! The start of term 1 has flown by in ESC 6! We have loved getting to know our new class members and settling back into the school routine. The students enjoyed sharing all the fun things they did over the holidays, and loved seeing PowerPoint photos of Miss Blackburn’s trip to Europe – including Harry Potter World which was a highlight!
This term we have already worked as a team to come up with our business name and start our business enterprise for the year. ESC 6 Glorious Gifts will be making a range of cards and gifts to sell throughout the year and at the Pop Up Shops, and we have already been busy making Easter and Birthday cards to sell this term to staff. We have decided to raise money for UNICEF to donate towards the people affected by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
To start the year we have focused on looking after ourselves. We have made communication toolboxes of all the different ways that we can communicate our message. We have also looked at our sensory likes and dislikes to understand our sensory processing better. We made wellbeing boxes which was a lot of fun, and throughout the term we will be filling these with items for self-care like positive affirmations and calm down tools.
This term in literacy, we are focusing on writing information texts and procedures, and reading comprehension. In maths we are working on our number skills, place value and addition and subtraction. In Person Centred Planning we have enjoyed learning more about ourselves. This will support our ability to advocate for, and understand ourselves as we become young adults, more able to take an active role in choices that impact us such as school subjects, therapy and other life areas.
We have enjoyed participating with all the year 8s in HASS, Health and Science groups. It is great to work alongside peers from other classrooms and learn all about forces and movement, geography, relationships and emotions. We always try our best to demonstrate USTAR values, and love our USTAR lessons where we can role-play different behaviours and watch our teachers act out different scenarios!
The Summer Vibes dress up day was a fun day for everyone. We had some great outfit choices in our room, and enjoyed raising money for such an important cause.
Thank you to all the staff in ESC 6 for your help in getting our class routines up and running for 2023!

We are looking forward to a great year full of learning, friendship, well-being and happiness.
Hello and welcome to the new year 7 students and families!
We have had a busy and exciting 5 weeks transitioning into high school. We welcome Kobe, Alisha, Evan, Isabella, Indigo, Ebony, Blake, Conna and Eva to ESC7. We are lucky to have wonderful EA’s who do so much to support our students – Mrs Buchanan, Mrs Maunder and Mrs C.

We are off to a flying start in ESC 8. We have settled in so well, getting to know one another and working hard on engaging programs both inside and outside the classroom.
Students have been getting know many staff members and other students around the school through options classes and tute groups, and we are really looking forward to our first Education Support Assembly next week.
We asked the students what they have enjoyed the most so far during their time at Leeming and here are their responses:
Cameron - I am really enjoying Design & Technology, sport and playing on the oval at recess and lunch times.
Pedro - I like being able to bounce on the trampoline during movement breaks in my class.
Annie - During free time in class I like challenging myself with various jigsaw puzzles.
Ollie - I really like Design Technology and going on the oval at recess and lunch times.

Welcome back to an already exciting and busy 2023. We were lucky to have some of the same wonderful cohort this year in ESC9, and welcomed two new students to our classroom, Anisha and Cameron. We are excited to continue our learning with Miss Gage and Miss Chatfield, and welcomed Mrs Sunil, Mrs Harcourt, Mrs Hales and Ms Lersdejsakul too! We are looking forward to the exciting things planned for the year, and have enjoyed our classes so far, especially our option classes which include; Computing, Dance, Outdoor Education, Music, Fitness, Art, Design & Technology and Physical Education. In class some of the things we have been learning about are money and shape in Maths, the Drill in Bush Rangers, private and public places, body parts and actions in Protective Behaviours and Physical Sciences and movement in Science. Have a look at the photos below to see what we’ve been up to so far this term.

Congratulations to Anisha for winning the role of Middle School Student Councillor for 2023.
Miss Gage
Welcome to all the new Year 7 students and families. It has been fantastic to get to meet you all over the first few weeks of this year, and I look forward to working with you into the future.
I am so excited to be teaching year 7s this year, and would like to welcome Mira, Sabrina, Isabel, Elvin, Bronwyn, Tommy, Katelyn, & Austin to Leeming ESC. You should all be congratulated on how well you have transitioned to high school and settled into ESC 10.
In class we have worked very hard getting to know each other and make new friends. It has been great to see all students interact with each other and begin to build relationships that will hopefully last throughout their high school years. I think a favourite subject so far has been cooking lessons. The students have done very well, and enjoyed making fruit salad, toasties, fried rice, and pancakes.
I am so excited to have a fantastic team working with me this year. Kristy Hewer, Sarah Russell and Karlene Wynd have been a great help within the class so far this year and I look forward to working with them this year. The students are very lucky to have such kind, supportive staff helping them each day.
With such a successful start to the year, I look forward to updating you with many more exciting things we get up to in ESC10!
Thanks,
Jack Drennan
Wow, we’re already halfway through the first term of 2023!! Everyone in ESC11 has been working hard to get prepared and ready for the year ahead. I have been very pleased with the smooth transition all students have made into their new classroom and year group. I can already tell we are going to have a fantastic year together!
We have spent the first few weeks getting to know everyone and sharing our likes and dislikes with each other. The class has excelled when diving into engaging lessons filled with curiosity and laughter. During HASS, we have learnt about a variety of world celebrations, including Lunar New Year, we then created and decorated paper lanterns to help us celebrate the year of the rabbit.

Thank you to our lovely team of EAs, Mei, Deb, Sooi and Pippa, who have all gone out of their way to ensure the students are all settled in and ready to face any challenge thrown their way.
I cannot wait to see what the year has ahead for ESC11!!
Mr Calasse and Team ESC11
I would like to welcome all families to the ESC 12 Team. These 5 weeks have just gone through so quickly and we are nearly halfway through Term 1. Students are beginning to settle down and getting familiar with the classroom routine and structure. They have begun to demonstrate responsible behaviours as expected by Year 9 students.
ESC 12 have been learning about celebrations around the world and have learnt Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Birthdays and Diwali. Students made a beautiful Chinese red envelope and decorated it.
In Science, they have been learning about different materials and have been exploring properties of materials by touching and feeling them if they are hard, soft, stretchy, bendy, or rigid.
In Bushrangers, students collected pictures of Australian flora and fauna, practised the National anthem and learnt about the code of conduct.
In literacy students have been watching and listening to online stories, listening to stories being read out and done shared reading to identify the characters in a story.
In numeracy students have been practising time, sequencing numbers, and learning about place value of numbers.

Fridays have been very exciting as they participate in the Beach Safety Program where they visit the beach and get to swim.
Students have been sharing knowledge about safe behaviours in the community and been practising the road safety script gearing up for CBL from week 6.
ESC 12 showed great USTAR values during these 5 weeks by demonstrating resilience, respect, care for class and environment, sharing, helping and participating in teamwork. Well done, keep up the great work ESC 12!
A big shout out to my awesome EAs who have worked tirelessly to engage with students to achieve their educational goals and provide them with a safe nurturing environment.
Thankyou families for collaborating and working as a team to help me understand the needs of your child and bring out their best in their learning journey.
Deepika Khosla
ESC 12 Classroom Teacher
What a busy and exciting start to the 2023 school year it has been for all the students and staff in ESC 13.
During the first week of school, ESC 13 students and staff participated in fun, getting-to-know-you and team building activities. Students learned about their peers and staff through a range of engaging activities, including People Bingo, Selfie posters and the Spaghetti Marshmallow team building challenge. No marshmallows were hurt during the challenge, and it turned out to be a huge success, with student towers reaching great heights!

Students have begun their P Units in Maths and English, which focus on providing real life tasks with transferable literacy and numeracy skills. In English, students have explored rules in the community, as well as focusing on enhancing their communication skills to support workplace learning experiences. In Maths, students are reinforcing their everyday numeracy skills such as counting, using ordinal numbers and counting tallies.
Workplace Learning started in Week 3 with all students demonstrating self-responsibility by attending their various work placements on time and with correct WPL attire and a positive attitude.
Community Based Learning will commence in the coming weeks, and students have selected some key places of interest in the community they are keen to explore.
Well done ESC 13 on such a positive and enthusiastic start to the 2023 school year. Keep up the good work.
It has been a busy and productive start to 2023! We are fortunate to have an awesome, supportive team assisting us this year with Ms Morgan, Mrs Smithson, Ms Temple, and Mrs Chamberlain.
Students have begun their literacy enrichment programs which focus on incorporating real life tasks with transferable skills. They have engaged in role plays to enhance their communication skills to support workplace learning experiences. From practising job interview speeches, extending vocabulary and creating resumes; we will provide opportunities to prepare for the workplace and post-school.
In Maths, students are reinforcing their everyday skills such as recognising place value and creating budgets to help them plan ahead to pay for bills and develop their understanding of the importance of saving for the future.
The Zones of Regulations Program enables students to identify how they are feeling and also take steps to self-regulating their emotions when they are not feeling classroom ready. Students are developing their understanding of the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships, and what they can do to problem solve more independently. The goal being to enhance their ability to make safe and acceptable choices, with a focus on social skills, and the possible outcomes of both positive and negative decision making.
Community based learning outings will commence shortly to support students to effectively use public transport, practise road safety, and provide opportunities to use their SmartRiders and purchase their own food.
The focus of Bush Rangers Cadets this year will be practising basic first aid skills, and what to do in an emergency situation. Reinforcing calling 000 and seeking adult help when needed.
The Year 12 Ball has taken place this term and was a huge success! Students enjoyed the Pre-Ball having photos with family before being whisked away in their luxurious limousines to The Rydges Esplanade in Fremantle. It was an experience they won’t forget, with a delicious buffet, and dancing all night long. Well done to Karleigh and Sam who were crowned Belle and Beau of the Ball.
We are looking forward to the exciting year ahead together!
Tammy Megrail and team
Hello everyone
It has been a very positive start to the year in ESC 15. Students have been engaged in various courses in and out of the classroom. Our students have completed their first Preliminary English and Mathematics tasks for the year. They have started planning their CBL trips aligned with the ASDAN Out in the Community course. We have been looking at Australian animals in Bush Rangers and making our own illustrated books on animals found in WA. Students are either studying Road Awareness or Keys for Life and study Health and Physical Education. All students are studying Dance and they had the option of selecting Music, Art or D&T for their option class. We will be studying enterprise throughout the year in preparation for Market Day. Students have commenced Work Place Learning on Wednesdays and we continue developing work place skills and career awareness in the classroom.
It has been wonderful getting to know ESC 15, thank you for the warm welcome.
ESC 15 staff
Miss Muco, Mrs Blaxell, Mr Burton and Mrs Gamage
Welcome back to all our Leeming family to the 2023 school year. We have made a fantastic start to our students final year of schooling, starting lots of exciting programs and kicking off our new work placements for semester 1. 2023 ASDAN programs have started, Towards Independence Using Transport and Business Enterprise. On Monday students are planning CBL outings to places they would like to visit. We are also starting to plan a school based café called “Casa Del Circolo” which we are hoping will be up and running soon!
On Tuesdays we are participating in the valued lives program, learning about jobs and employment opportunities for life after school. We are also exploring potential micro-enterprises that could be created based off interests and skills. We have also started our work placements for semester 1. So far, we have received really positive feedback from our students about their placements, and a number of students have commenced participating in school based enclaves in the afternoon once they have returned to school.
Our Year 12 literacy programs are all progressing well, with preliminary English programs running based on work related language skills, such as formal language and typing formal resumes and cover letters.
ESC 17 - STEFFI VARGHESE & MONISHA SUNIL
In ESC 17 we have had a fantastic start to the year. The students have settled in extremely well in the new class environment and it has been great to see all students come in with a positive attitude, ready to learn new skills.
We started the year off by learning about the Chinese New Year and making Chinese lanterns. We also enjoy having a kitchen in the classroom, and made chocolate chip cookies for Valentines Day.

The students have started their trip to Coogee Marina on Fridays as part of the sports program to learn about beach safety and swimming. This is a great way to end the week especially with the hot weather we have been having.
We look forward to the year to come and we would like to thank my wonderful team of EAs – Michelle Smith, Candace Botha, Edith Murugan and Dharona Pillay who have been such a great support to us teachers and the students. We are all very lucky to have them in our class.

ART - MRS MCPERZIE & MS KAISER
In art, we’ve started the year with a festive flair, creating artwork for the new Chinese Lunar Year. 2023 is the ‘Year of the Rabbit’ and together as a group, we learned part of what that symbolises in Chinese culture.
Using bright colours, students created their own hanging lanterns from cardboard. Each lantern used warm colours to represent good fortune and luck in the new year. We saw some incredible designs and patterns using only yellow, orange and red.

This year is the year of the water rabbit, or the black rabbit, so each student made their own rabbit using black card. It was fantastic to see all the differently shaped silhouettes jump off the page.
Keeping with the Chinese tradition, we have hung the lanterns around the art room to ward off bad spirits and keep the room safe. It is brilliant to see all the amazing artworks brightening up the space.

It has been a warm start to 2022 in the PE department! Year 7’s and 8’s have been enjoying learning basketball skills during Physical Education sessions. Even though the weather has been warm, all the classes have been giving 110% on the courts during our sessions!
Lucky for the Year 9’s and 10’s, we have spent our Fridays participating in the Beach Swimming and Safety program at Port Coogee Marina. Students have been learning about beach safety, by identifying potential hazards and reducing risks for themselves and others. Students have also been lucky enough to have the Stephen Michael Foundation join us to run beach games, developing students’ communication and teamwork.

Year 11 and 12 students have been learning basketball and tennis skills during Physical Education sessions. It has been fantastic to see so many students keen to learn and develop different skills. Well done to all students on a massive improvement in just a few weeks! We have some basketball super stars in the group!
We have loved seeing students return to school with an awesome attitude and have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming our new students. We are looking forward to more amazing sporting achievements this term!

A few special mentions that were celebrated at the week 5 assembly:
A well deserving recipient of the workplace learning certificate……
Ryan, Primary School Canteen Hospitality Placement - The canteen manager has been super impressed by his positive attitude and hard work ethic. He follows instructions and is working safely in the kitchen. The team are amazed at all of the food he has been preparing, especially his muffin making skills. Keep up the fantastic work Ryan!
The Employee of the Month went to…
Nicholas Fleming. The supervisors are extremely pleased with the quality of the work he is producing with the gardening contracts at Activ Property Care. He shows great initiative, is very respectful, and is proving to be a safe worker, especially when operating tools and machinery. He is the first student to be operating the mower on their second shift! Congratulations to Nic, keep up the amazing work!
