We acknowledge the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation as the traditional custodians of the land and its waters and pay respect to their elders, past, present and emerging.
What an interesting journey we have had over the past 5 weeks. Keran Davies has been on leave since Week 5, and I have been acting in her role. With the borders opening in early March, and rising COVID-19 cases, our Centre has done exceptionally well in supporting one another during these challenging times. I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff members for remaining positive and supportive, and acknowledge the incredible ongoing work that has occurred to ensure our students stay safe and programs continue wherever possible. The Workplace Learning Team need special recognition for their efforts in locating alternative work experience placements for students whose original placements were deferred or were deemed high risk in the current climate.
It has been wonderful to see staff, parents and students embracing technology to stay connected. On many levels, communication has transitioned to electronic platforms; from online Team video conferences to IEP and My Plan phone calls. Thank you to parents and carers for keeping our Centre updated with COVID-19 close contacts and positive cases. This adds an extra layer of safety and security for our students and staff.
This term, we are sadly farewelling two staff members. Annmarie Harvey joined our team in the middle of 2021 and was an outstanding addition to ESC 8. Her passion, and extensive knowledge and skills in meeting the needs of our students, will be missed by all. Annmarie is returning to Victoria but we hope that one day she will make her way back to WA and re-join the Leeming team.
Emma Leonard came to us at the start of this year, teaching our home economics and computing option classes. Her enthusiasm and fresh ideas allowed Emma to quickly connect with staff and students in a range of year levels. Emma will be leaving us at the end of this term to pursue a permanent full-time teaching position at a newly opened school. I would like to congratulate Emma on her new appointment and thank Annmarie and Emma for their dedication to our students. I wish them every success for the future.
Congratulations to Ashlee Cabassi on the safe arrival of her first child, a little girl, Lara Maree, born on the 26th March. We wish Ash every happiness with her little bundle of joy.
Important Dates
Term 2 begins on Wednesday 27th April for our students. Tuesday the 26th April is a School Development Day. This is a student free day, giving teaching and non-teaching staff the opportunity for professional learning.
Keran will be returning in Term 2. Please contact the school on 9237 6870, should you have any queries.
Have a safe and relaxing holiday break.
Kerryn Coles
Acting Principal
The School Board met via Webex on Monday 21st March.
We had presentations from:
- School Chaplain Vangi updating us on the School Community Project;
- School Psychologist Dylan on his role in the school; and
- Vojin Zivkovic on Work Safety and Health and the collaboration with the mainstream High School.
The Board received feedback on the School Review, discussed the Parent Facebook page, enrolment projections for 2023, Safety Intervention training and planned Parent Network meetings.
We were delighted to welcome two student councillors to our meeting, Makenzie and Isaac who updated the Board with the roles of a student leader and their responsibilities.
Capital and minor work projects were discussed and also how COVID-19 is being managed through the school community.
We also had an opportunity to look at the new school website.
Our next meeting will be on May 9th, and we will be able to gather on the school campus.
Kind regards to all the School Community.

ESC1 has made a fantastic start to the 2022 school year! First of all, I would like to thank all the parents and students for participating in our online My Plan process! It has been a fantastic experience working with everyone and developing plans to assist our students as they transition to a post school life. It was an incredibly positive experience across the board.
As our students begin their journey participating in the ADWPL program, we have received a lot of positive feedback in their placements. Students have expressed enjoyment and show a lot of excitement for their Wednesdays in the work place. It has been fantastic to see the students grow in confidence each week as they settle in to their new placements.

I would also like to thank all the staff for their incredible work in what has been a very disrupted and uncertain term. With the challenges navigating the current COVID-19 situation in Western Australia, the staff have showed an incredible resilience and have helped create a fun and positive working environment. We couldn’t have made the progress we have without their support!
Happy holiday break to everyone. It is well deserved!
Mr Frewer, Mrs Carter, Mrs Enright and Mrs Long.
Here we are at the end of term one already! ESC 2 has had a great last half of the term despite missing a few students here and there at times.
We have had a busy and productive term with options classes such as digitech, yoga, D&T, computing, swimming and music. While some students have missed out on Friday options, they have been presented with a fantastic opportunity to achieve a Cert I in Horticulture, which they are thoroughly enjoying.
Our students have also been working hard in their Workright program at Striker Industries. While on the job, they have been cleaning in the café, gym and squash courts. They’ve also been folding and sorting netball bibs, and stocking the canteen. In class, we have been learning about safety at work, how to treat others and how to be responsible for ourselves in the workplace. We have been so proud of the boys’ work ethic, and effort to be professional in the workplace…keep it up guys!
We have started our E Safety program which will be a year long program where students are taught different aspects of staying safe online whether it be through computers, phones or gaming. This term, we have been concentrating on how students can keep their personal information safe, who their trusted circle of people are, what cyberbullying looks like, and, who they can go to for help should this occur. These are also great talking points for families at home, given social media features so prominently in our world!

We’ve had a fantastic time with our students and staff in ESC 2 for the start of 2022…so much done this term and so much on the horizon for next term! We hope you all stay safe over the holidays and can’t wait to get back into it in term 2.
Mr Holdsworth, Ms Payne, Ms Brayne, Ms Putland and Ms Munza.
Wow… how time flies. I can’t believe that it is almost the end of the term. It is such a busy term, that we had to hit the ground running Day 1 of this term. It was lovely to meet all of our parents during the recent My Plan meetings. With the constant change that COVID presented, we moved our usual meeting to an online format. In spite of the challenges, it was lovely to meet our parents and see our students developing self-advocacy skills
Our students have been increasing their online learning skills through Seesaw and Microsoft Teams. It is wonderful to see our students gaining more confidence in using IT. Do ask your child to showcase their skills in logging into Seesaw and Microsoft Teams.
In Literacy, we have been inproving our decoding skills, spelling and writing skills. One of our themes this term was Harmony Day. It was lovely to see our students researching and presenting their projects on the cultures and practices from different countries. We also got to enjoy food from different cultures. Our students learnt how to make curry puffs the authentic way, with help from Mrs Mahalingam.
Our students had their first experience at Strikers and they undertook a range of jobs such as cleaning, dusting and vacuuming. They also learnt the importance of using PPE’s and being aware of safety signs. Our students have worked really hard this term and have adjusted well into Senior School. Wishing everyone a well-deserved and safe holiday.

Ms Parwani, Ms Mahalingam, Mrs Shivers , Mrs Johnson and Mrs Hales.
Wow, how is it already the end of Term 1! The time has flown by. The year 10’s have been very busy this term. The first round of My Plan meetings with parents has now been completed and it was so wonderful to meet the families and learn more about the boys! I would like to say a huge thank you to each parent for being so accomodating with the online meeting platform.
In preparation for our CBL excursions next term, we have been doing lots of activities, using money to make purchases, ordering food from local restaurant menus (the boys love this task!), practising our road safety skills and checking our SmartRider balances to prepare for catching public transport. The students began their ASDAN Workright unit, so we have been completing hands on manufacturing work skills stations, learning about work place safety and hazards, practising manual handling and packing ‘click and collect’ Woolworths orders. We also started our weekly work experience visits to Striker’s Indoor Sports and Fitness venue.

We have so much to look forward to in Term 2. I would like to thank the students and parents for making my first term of teaching one to remember (in the best way!). I would also like to recognise our amazing EA’s - Miss Hamel, Mrs Maunder and Ms Riley. Thank you so much for your continuous hard work and support. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful team in ESC 4.
Miss Arndt, Ms Riley, Miss Hamel and Mrs Maunder.
Mathematics: Students have participated in a wide range of maths activities this term. They often commence each lesson with the first few minutes being devoted to mental maths. Students treasure the opportunity to work independently and recall facts at their own pace which maths sessions provide. It has evolved over the course of this term to become one of the favourite activities that they look forward to each week. In Measurement and Geometry, students have been learning about 2- and 3-Dimensional shapes and their distinguishing properties. They are getting better at using mathematical terms such as “edges”, “faces” and “vertices” to describe each shape. Students reinforced their learning of shapes with some hands-on activities, using pop sticks and plasticine to construct the skeletal models of the various shapes studied. They have also been learning about the processes of using a ruler to take accurate measurements of objects, with each student tracing a foot on a piece of paper and comparing feet sizes.
English: This term, the Year 7.1 students have been exploring different ways of ‘dressing up’ sentences. These encompass adding adjectives and adverbs to make their sentences more colourful and appealing to readers. For example, “The boy played” could be ‘dressed up’ as “The young, happy boy played quietly on the sandy beach”. The appropriate occasions to use capital letters and full stops were other areas covered during their exercises on sentence construction. Students also participated in spelling and reading comprehension activities. While undertaking reading comprehension tasks, students were challenged to listen to a story at a time and share their understanding with the whole class. In an effort aimed at advancing students’ vocabulary development, words articulation resources were compiled in a ‘phonics folder’ that students consulted regularly for their phonemic awareness and phonics drill. This arrangement has proven to be invaluable in supporting students with their spelling needs.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Bush Ranger Cadet Programs
Students have been learning about the ‘USTAR’ values as part of our Positive Behaviours Support (PBS) program, this term. The acronym ‘USTAR’ stands for ‘Unity’, ‘Self-responsibility’, ‘Teamwork. ‘Achievement’ and ‘Respect’. While students have been given general information about each value, they have selected ‘self-responsibility’ and ‘respect’ to study in greater depth. As a result, they have brainstormed different ways of demonstrating self-responsibility in the classroom and at home. Regarding respect, students have found that it is interwoven with other components of positive relationships such as caring, active listening, kindness, loyalty, patience, and honesty.
As for the Bush Ranger Cadet Program, students have been busy learning about the Australian Flora and Fauna. They investigated the difference between flora and fauna and identified some examples of each. Our class explored ways of conserving water and electricity as part of our Bush Ranger Cadet program. It was great to observe every student participating actively and coming up with approaches of saving water and power in both home and school situations.
Mrs Enoma, Ms Temple, Ms Banks, Ms Broadhurst and Ms Rieutska.
The second half of Term 1 has gone by in a blur! We have had an interrupted term with absences due to COVID, and Miss Blackburn was out for a week! But despite this we have been very resilient and learnt to go with the flow! We have had lots of Teams Video calls which have been a fun way to stay connected with each other.
We really enjoyed the celebrations for Bullying No Way Day, wearing our crazy socks and hair to school. Even Miss Blackburn’s dog Charlie joined in the crazy hair fun over a Teams call. We have explored our creative entrepreneur side, by making Easter cards and selling these to staff to raise money for a class party we will have once we hit 100 days of high school. All the class have really settled into the routine of high school, and it has been fantastic to see them grow in their confidence and independence skills. The students have worked hard each week to demonstrate USTAR behaviours, and all of the girls this term have achieved our USTAR of the Week prize. Congratulations to our Star Award winner, Isabel, and to the whole class on your first term of high school. A massive thankyou to the ESC6 staff for pulling together and stepping up to help out this term.
Miss Blackburn, Ms Musson, Miss Sutherland and Mrs Bregger.

This term has flown by with all the exciting activities ESC 7 has completed. The class have been remarkably resilient in dealing with absences due to COVID-19.
In HASS, we have been looking at places to visit around the world, exploring the various cultures and traditions our favourite countries have. To enhance our inclusivity, students have learned Auslan and some Noongar Aboriginal languages. The students have been fantastic at picking up the words and signs, using them daily in the classroom.
This term, we celebrated Anti-Bullying Day and Autism Awareness. Students learned how we could be kind and show kindness to one another. They also dressed up with crazy hair and socks to celebrate!
Hopefully, we can get our CBL program up and running next term to work on our valuable community skills.
Have a great Easter from all of us in ESC 7,

Ms Chambers, Ms Smith, Mrs Chamberlain and Ms Jones.
Wanjoo!
This term, the students have been learning about caring for the environment and working safely outdoors. Students have been collecting litter around the school grounds and participated in clean-up the school event, as part of clean up Australia Day. During our CBL excursions to Bibra Lake the students have been identifying and removing litter from the environment to help protect and care for the wetlands. Great work, Bush Rangers! Students have been looking out for community signs, risks and hazards in the park and practising road and car park crossings.
The students have completed an ‘Identity project’ and during this self-discovery journey, learnt that we are all unique and special. They identified their bodies, facial features, skills and qualities, and recognised that these shaped their character and how they behave. During this project, the students identified how they demonstrate the school, USTAR values, Unity, Self-responsibility, Teamwork, Achievement and Respect. The students compiled their learning into a profile portfolio. Congratulations to all students on their very impressive portfolio. Well done!
Lastly, students have displayed flexibility and resilience in managing many class changes including farewelling Mrs Harvey. We wish Mrs Harvey and her family, all the very best with their move back to Melbourne. Sadly, we will miss Mrs Harvey but feel very fortunate to welcome Mr Cocks to our team. It will be wonderful to have a male role model working in our class of boys.
We would like to acknowledge and thank, each student for their tremendous work this term and wish everyone a happy and safe term break. Thank you!
Kind regards, Mrs Vann, Mrs Louise, Mrs Xavier, Mrs Harvey and Mr Cocks.

Term 1 has just zoomed past and we can’t believe how much learning we’ve managed to squeeze in. The ESC 9 students have now well and truly settled in at Leeming ESC, and have started to form some meaningful friendships and connections with their peers and teachers. This term, in Person Centred Planning (PCP), we have been focusing on recognising different emotions, and identifying things that make us feel a certain emotion. We have also been learning about early warning body signs, and strategies to use when feeling different emotions. In Health we have been focusing on personal hygiene, and discussing a range of routines such as hand washing, showering and brushing our teeth. In Maths we have enjoyed our hands-on game rotations, focusing on money, and in HASS we have been learning about the Aboriginal flag.
This term we also celebrated and learned about St Patrick’s Day and Harmony Day. We wrote down all the things we feel lucky to have, which was a lovely activity to show our gratitude. For Harmony Day, we paired up with peers in our class, and identified the many similarities and differences between one another, to recognise the diversity in our own class.
We are looking forward to Term 2! Happy Easter and have a great holiday.
Miss Gage, Ms Sajjay, Ms Mitchell and Miss Chatfield.

It’s hard to believe it’s almost the end of Term 1! Despite the ups and downs this term has brought us, we’ve been dedicated to achieving our goals and trying new things!
We are now pros at basketball, master chefs as part of Life Skills, whacky scientists, computer whizz’s and oh so much more!
Some highlights of this term has been staying in touch via remote learning, learning the ropes of Minecraft with Mr Angus in Digitech and using Teams to access our lessons. This group of Year 8’s has continued to flourish and I cannot wait to see what the next term will bring us!

We’re hoping to continue our CBL program and introduce new tasks in Life skills such as washing our own clothes. It’s going to be a packed Term 2 so stay tuned!
From all of us in ESC 10, have a safe Easter Holidays!
Ms Knox, Miss Russell, Mrs T-J and Mrs Palma.
In ESC11 we have had a fantastic first term of the school year. Everyone is now comfortably settled in and the year is well and truly underway. We have been working hard to create a safe and welcoming classroom environment where there has been an emphasis on working and acting as a team. I have been extremely pleased to see all of the members of our classroom support each other and offer encouragement to those who need it.
Some of the fun and interesting activities we have done in ESC11 have included making a class chandelier from papier-mache and baking cookies to help us learn how different materials can change state. We have also planted radish, spring onion, black beans, chives and silver beetroot seeds in our garden, where we will track the growth of our vegetables through a seed diary. Another activity we have done (and my personal favourite) was making volcanoes from recycled materials where we learnt how different substances can cause different chemical reactions.

The year is going amazingly so far and we are all very excited for the rest of the year, and the holidays of course!
Mr Calasse, Mrs Bruns, Mrs Harcourt and Mrs Hewer.
Wow, can’t believe it, we are racing towards the finish line and heading towards Term 1 Holidays! The students in ESC 12 have been busy learning about different celebrations like St Patrick’s Day, Holi and Harmony Day. The class participated in different kinds of activities to understand the significance of Harmony Day.
The Year 9 students participated in a Harmony Day celebration via Teams and exchanged what they had learnt about diversity and respecting differences. The students dressed up and brought in food from a country of their choice to share with their classmates.
In Science the students have been learning about materials changing shape, texture and colour. They conducted an experiment where they added primary food colours in water to make a secondary colours. The challenge was to make the colour green which could be added to the pancake mix to make green pancakes for St Patrick’s Day.
Our Bush Ranger’s cadets planted a few different kinds of seeds and are taking care of their plants by ensuring that the seedlings are watered daily. Students have shown great progress in becoming more independent, taking on self-responsibility to complete assigned tasks and logging on to Teams and other websites to complete online tasks.

Swimming lessons have been very engaging learning about beach safety. Protective Behaviour lessons revolved around changes in boys and girls during puberty and comparing them with changes taking place with their own body. We successfully managed three CBL lessons this term with students participating in travel training, behaving responsibly and respectfully in the community.
Well done, Sheona, Izzie, Ginger, Adriano, Ethan, Willem, Patrick and Corbin for demonstrating awesome USTAR values in ESC 12 and showing great resilience throughout the term! A big shout out to the lovely parents and my team for always assisting in making the educational journey a success for our students. Have a lovely break and we wish you all a Happy Easter!
Mrs Khosla, Ms Owen, Ms Brewer, and Ms Blacklock.
What an interesting and busy term it has been. It’s hard to believe the school holidays are almost here. The students in 11.2 have all made a really positive transition into Year 11, demonstrating maturity, resilience and great teamwork. Each student is to be commended on their excellent behaviour, beautiful manners and positive engagement with the curriculum.
Term 1 has certainly been busy, with students getting used to their new class and routines, participating in My Plan meetings with their parents, the commencement of Work Place Learning, as well as engaging with regular learning activities including the key academic subjects of ADSAN and P Units in Mathematics and Literacy.
In Mathematics this term, the focus has been money and how we use it in our daily lives. Students have been working on developing a greater understanding of the value of money, how much things cost, how to pay for items, and how to keep track of spending. Using money will be practised throughout the year through in-class activities and later on, in Community Based Learning.
In English, we have been looking at ‘Rules and Responsibilities in our Community’, with a strong focus on developing those really important life skills that support students in their journey through school and as an adult in the wider community. We have been exploring how COVID has impacted our community as a whole, and changed the way we interact at school, at the workplace and in different places throughout our community.

Well done students on an excellent start to 2022, and enjoy your well-deserved holiday break.
Ms Pumfrey, Ms Soares, Ms Hugo.
In Literacy, students have continued to identify different rules relevant for various places. In particular, from their research of theme parks, students made an informative poster about Adventure World that included ride requirements and restrictions. Then they presented their findings to the class in a short speech.
During Maths, money board games have been used, focusing on addition and subtraction of small purchases. This practise came in handy because, as part of a whole-school reward for both year elevens and twelves, they had a special day where food trucks visited the school. Students practised their communication and money skills to order their lunch from a variety of options. The class favourite was Boost Juice!
The class has also enjoyed Art lessons with Ms Pumphrey’s class. In particular, students created crazy hair portraits using a variety of line designs. Then they finished their masterpieces using colourful paints to bring their artwork to life.
To retain the information learnt during the St John incursion, and what to do in other injury situations, students have been filming themselves taking part in role plays. In particular, what to do if a casualty has suffered from either burns, asthma attack, allergic reaction or is found unconscious.

It has been a very productive start to the year. We are very happy to have Mrs Tan back on board with us for the rest of the year.
Mrs Megrail, Mrs Morgan, Miss Bregger and Mrs Tan.
What a great term 1 we have had in ESC15. It has been a great time for all staff in our class to form positive relationships and get to know all our students, which has been great.
Our students have all started and are now settled into their workplace settings, it is very impressive to see how hard everyone has been working in their new roles and the efforts students have been putting into work skills in class to support their time at work has been an awesome effort so far.
Within class we have also been busy further developing our self-regulation strategies in various practical situations through the zones of regulation, everybody has been coming up with positive and useful strategies that will help not only themselves but others. Students are also preparing to start creating their own resumes, learning the eight key employability skills and how they can apply these to their own skills and development for future employment.
We have also been busy designing and thoughtfully creating our badges to sell for Autism Awareness Day which is on the 2nd of April. Students have shown incredible teamwork and unity which are both key values of our Schools Positive Behaviour Matrix, painting, cutting, gluing, marketing, and keeping accounts of our enterprise product have been only a few of the skills our students have learned so far through this project. We really look forward to now selling the badges and create more for our pop-up shop.
We want to give a big shout out and congratulations to Poppy Selfe this term who has managed to get signed off from her Transport Training Program and can now make her own way to Tafe independently. What an achievement Poppy, well done!
We have been busily working on our ASDAN Money Progression each work and students have been displaying many ways they can use and manage money successfully; we are now looking forward to Term 2 where we will commence our CBL program and transfer our skills learned in the classroom into the Community.
What a busy, dynamic, and most importantly fun term 1 we have had. We can’t wait to see what else we can do in term 2.
Mrs Brennan, Ms Patterson, Ms Lester-Smith and Ms Close.

PHYS ED - RECHELLE HAWKES, JENNA ALLOMES & JENELLE HEARD
Term 1 has continued to be filled with fun and excitement in the Health and PE Department. We would like to welcome Miss Hawkes back, who is teaching PE, Fitness, Dance, Health and Home Ec. We would also like to welcome Ms McFarlane onboard, who is taking Dance on Tuesdays. Both teachers have a wealth of experience. Our students are enjoying the variety of subjects being delivered to them.
We are coming to the end of our Basketball programs in Physical Education. There are definitely some basketball superstars on the horizon! Students have improved immensely in their basketball skills and are now participating in competitive games against each other. Some students have had the opportunity to umpire games, by learning specific rules and applying them to games. Seeing the progression in our classes has been wonderful. We hope you enjoy the action shots!!
During Term 2, we will be covering a range of activities including Soccer, Yoga, Fundamental Movement Skills and Dance. We are looking forward to another action packed term and hoping some carnivals will be going ahead!
Enjoy the break.
Miss Heard, Miss Allomes, Ms Hawkes, Ms McFarlane and Ms Pereira.
WORK PLACE LEARNING SARAH LOMAX
We celebrate Tyeisha Bedford in the workplace learning department for receiving the Employee of the Month award. From joining our school late last year, Tyeisha has already gained valuable industry experiences in the fitness, cleaning and retail industries. She tries to the very best of her ability and maintains a positive manner throughout each shift. At her current placement, at Australia Post, she has proved to be a hard worker and has received encouraging feedback from customers when she has served them at the registers. Congratulations, Tyeisha!
A special mention to Lily Murton who has had a very productive term at the pet store. Each week she has been very enthused as she worked on the floor and with the animals. Way to go Lily!

Due to COVID limitations we have had a small number of senior students that have been engaging in a relevant and comprehensive school based program on the Wednesdays. We had the pleasure of having relief teacher Jo Lee work with these senior students for multiple weeks this term.
Here is what Jo Lee has recapped of the program that she delivered:
“The program was designed to revise, teach, and consolidate concepts necessary for them to work effectively in an environment outside of the confines of the school. Areas of interest are identified in conjunction with their “My Plan” goals, so that the needs and interests of each student are met within that chosen workplace.
The program works on developing personal areas of strength and supplying a boost in confidence at the same time. On a personal level, we focused on making sure that each student understands their strengths, but also their limitations. This avoids taking on job tasks that may be unrealistic, thereby causing stress.
Weekly, we re-visited workplace behaviour protocols and what is expected in order to be a great employee and in fact, to maintain employment on a long-term basis.
At this point in time, every student who has attended the Wednesday in-school program needs to be congratulated for the way they have embraced activities, ultimately designed to steer them in the right direction for the future.
Well done on a super effort everyone!”
DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY (D&T) VOJIN ZIVKOVIC
As part of the "Toward Independence Practical Workshop (ASDAN Program), four practical workshop students are manufacturing timber kits used to teach a number of work skills to Workright and Workplace learning students.
The aim was to make work-like "Assembly Practice Kits" to develop various work skills. These kits include reading, following instructions, and build experience with left (lefty- loosie) and right (righty-tighty). Students use hand work skill tools to assemble and take apart wooden pieces.
Both projects require the use of tie bolts to join pieces together.
The following pictures will demonstrate the "Assembly Practice Kit" in use.
Project 1 - Ready for trial!
Jone showing the Practical workshop students how to assemble the project using allen keys.
Orlando trialling the project, both in assembly and taking it apart. The students seem very impressed with the high interest and challenging project.

Welcome back! During term 1 our new staff members and students were introduced to the Leeming ESC USTAR values and our USTAR app. The school community have continued to embrace the USTAR app, and the number of awarded USTAR tokens continues to grow.!
The Lucky Draw feature was used again at our week 10 Teams assembly this term and here are the student USTAR winners:
Fatima Salman, Owen Edwards and Riley Green
We also used The Lucky Draw feature to reward teachers for their positive behaviour for the first time. Here are the teacher USTAR winners:
Miss Leonard and Miss Sutherland
Classroom teachers are explicitly teaching PBS lessons once a week. In ESC1 we have been learning about expectations and consequences at home, in school and out in the community. We have integrated this topic with our USTAR values by exploring the consequences of following and not following the values in different environments. We have found that when we follow the USTAR values, the consequences end up being very positive and beneficial, while when we don’t follow the USTAR values there are negative consequences.
(Mr Frewer)
During Term 1, the PBS Team conducted a competition to come up with an original and imaginative name for our new PBS mascot. Stay tuned for the winning name!
The PBS Team.
Catherine Houden, Jenna Allomes, Keran Davies, Dylan Geiles, Emma Gage, Lorraine Vann, Lachlan Frewer, Deborah Brayne, Prudence Harcourt and Tanya Payne.
Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays are our LEEMING LINK days here at Leeming ESC!
At both recess and lunch on these days, students can come and join in with many fun activities.
LEEMING LINK is located on the grassed area outside the ESC Kitchen/Laundry, or in our ESC 16 classroom next to the chickens, (if the weather is too hot or too rainy).
Week 6 to 10 at Leeming Link has been filled with many fun activities, opportunities to develop friendships, social skills, and celebrate special events.
Here is some of what we did: Twister, Make a Milkshake, Anti- Bully Day Badges, St Patrick’s Day Coin Toss, Harmony Day Hands, Cricket, April Fool’s Joke Day, and an Easter Egg Hunt.

Keep a look out for some great photos of our students participating in Leeming Link.
Have a look at our LEEMING LINK Timetable for what’s ahead for Term 2.

ALEX CONNOLLY - FORMER STUDENT - BUSINESS NEWS
Former Student, Alex Connolly, visited our school on Wednesday 4th of April. Along with the support of his family, Alex was able to establish his own business "Super A" which he collects containers for change. In appreciation of the support, guidance and work place skills that ESC provided Alex with, he brought in a very "sweet basket" filled with chocolates, just in time for the Easter break!

Alex created this amazing basket with his first earnings. We wish Alex and his family all the very best and hope to see him again soon!

COVID-19 is in the community.
COVID-19 vaccination is safe and available for children aged 5 to 11.
It’s the best way to protect children from COVID-19.
Did you know?
- Vaccination offers all children strong protection against severe illness, hospitalisation and chronic symptoms.
- Most children who test positive to COVID-19 will experience mild symptoms, however there’s strong evidence to support vaccinating children.
- Children with pre-existing medical conditions are at greater risk from COVID-19.
- Vaccines give the immune system a helping hand to protect against serious illness and possible long-term effects from COVID-19.
- Reducing transmission in schools means education settings will be safer, can stay open, and children can spend time face-to-face learning, play time, sporting activities, and spending time with friends.
- Vaccination reduces the risk of children transmitting COVID-19 to other kids and family members.
