This is our last newsletter for the 2019 school year. I would like to thank all parents for their ongoing support and I trust that the school year has been an enjoyable experience for your children. I would particularly like to acknowledge all the parents of our 2019 leavers. You have collaborated with staff and advocated for your children throughout their schooling at Leeming SHS ESC to get them where they are today, thank you for your wonderful support. The graduation dinner was a fantastic night and a great way for students, parents and staff to say goodbye. Thank you to Ms FP and her support staff for organising a wonderful night. I wish all the students and their families the very best for the future.
The School Board ran a process to elect two new Board members during Term 4. We are very pleased to announce that Jocelyn Morgan and Francesca Robb will be joining the Board as our new parent representatives. Both have experience and a wealth of knowledge that will be very beneficial to the Board and we look forward to working with them to achieve our new Business Plan goals in 2020.
Congratulations to our student councillors for 2020, Brittany Walton and Henry Baum. Henry and Brittany were elected by their peers in a formal student election held earlier in Term 4. Both are very deserving of the role and will represent Leeming ESC well in 2020.
Goodbye and thank you to staff members leaving at the end of the school year:
Peter Roberts
We were very fortunate to recruit such a professional and dedicated teacher in Mr Roberts in 2019. He has been the quiet achiever of the senior school, working busily away with his students who have matured into responsible young men this year under his gentle guidance. It has been wonderful getting to know Mr Roberts and we very much hope to see him continue in a relief capacity in 2020 and remain involved in our school community.
Renee Bowell
Mrs Bowell joined us in 2019 working with our year 12 students, this was a return to the classroom after a number of years in administration roles. Mrs Bowel very much enjoyed working with such an amazing group of students and appreciated the importance of seeing our school vision at the classroom level. She has had a very busy year, getting married and we will miss her big beautiful smile and positive energy and wish her all the very best in her new administration role at Swan View High School.
Nicole Coates
Ms Coates has been relieving for Ms Easom this semester in year 7. Ms Coates has become very much part of the Leeming ESC school community over the past few years and is always relied on to do a very professional job in whatever class she is in. Thank you for always being so positive and flexible in any role you undertake in the school.
Our Baby Boom continues and we wish Kate Cullen the very best for the birth of her baby due early next year and look forward to seeing both Kate and her baby in 2020. As Mrs Cullen leaves on maternity leave, Ms Allomes returns as one of our PE and Health teachers in 2020, welcome back Ms Allomes.
On Tuesday the 10th December we were very privileged to have the Minister of Education and Training, Sue Ellery attend a special morning tea for staff organised by Dawn Barker. Dawn wrote a lovely letter to Sue Ellery acknowledging the wonderful staff at Leeming ESC. Thank you Dawn for organising a lovely morning tea and writing such a heartfelt letter of appreciation. The Minister enjoyed receiving such a positive letter and acknowledged the challenges of being a parent of a child with a disability and the care and compassion of Leeming ESC staff who provide such wonderful opportunities for students with disabilities. This was a lovely way to finish a very successful school year.
Reports will be sent home this week. I hope you take the time to celebrate the achievements of your children. They have all worked hard to achieve to the best of their ability and every success no matter how big or small is important. As we are currently still receiving enrolments and finalising classes, class lists will be emailed to parents on the 28th January 2020.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge all the hard work of my staff, they have strived to provide the best possible learning opportunities for our students and should be very proud of what they have achieved together with their students in 2019.
Have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday.
Mrs Keran Davies

TERM 4 has been an exciting, eventful and busy time!
I was very proud that our school was part of Operation Christmas Child this year. We filled 20 shoeboxes and made a difference to 20 children’s lives this Christmas. Many of the children would have never received a Christmas gift previously in their lives, and may not again.
THANK YOU to everyone who contributed so generously, and brought hope to a child, who will have a present to unwrap this Christmas.
Many Blessings to you and your family.

LEEMING LINK has been a great success this term, with many fun and interactive activities enjoyed by staff and students.
Amongst these were Toilet Paper Mummy Wrap, Donut on a String, Ice Age Bin and Fruit Kebab Santas.

CONGRATULATIONS families, staff and students on a successful term 4 and all your tireless, hard work.
May you all have a restful, peaceful and joyful Festive Season.
Have a safe and happy holiday!
Kind regards,
Ms Vangi Evangeli
Wow! I can’t believe that the school year is coming to an end. We have had a busy term as we finished our P Units in maths, English and ASDAN unit. The highlight for this term has certainly been the camp to Quaranup. Here are highlights of the camp from our students.
Josh: I learned a lot about whales at the whaling station, I enjoyed watching the 3D show on whales. My favourite part of camp was hanging out with Ben Armstrong, and I really liked listening to Brittany singing.
Azaria: I went to the Anzac Centre and saw pictures of soldiers who died in the war. My favourite part of camp was watching movies with my friends Josh and Ben.
Ben Armstrong: My favourite part of camp was visiting the whaling station and watching the 3D show on whales and visiting the Anzac centre. On the camp l also had to do jobs like washing up the dishes.
Kayla: I went to the Anzac Centre to see the soldiers who died in the war. We watched a 3D movie on whales, it tells you all about the whales. My favourite part was Blowholes and movie night.
Ben Shaw: My favourite part about camp was the Natural Bridge and Brig Amity. I liked going right to the edge and looking at rocks and the waves crashing under my feet. The Natural Bridge was awesome to see.
Brittany: One of my favourite parts was going to the Anzac Centre. It was so interesting and nice to see how they present the story of the soldiers and I really liked how they put the names of soldiers in the waterfall. I also liked the Natural Bridge.
Morgan: I saw how they captured whales and how they sliced the whale. I saw skeletons of whales. I also went to the Anzac Centre and saw names of soldiers in the water. My favourite part of camp was washing dishes and seeing Dog Rock.

As term 4 comes to an end, we reflect on our achievements and how far we have all come as individuals and as a team. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my WONDERFUL year 11.3 Eve, Brittany, Kayla, Morgan, Azaria, Ben A, Ben S, Jacob and Josh and how proud I am of all your achievements. I have been so blessed to be part of your learning journey in 2019. I am excited to see what 2020 holds for you. I would also like to thank my wonderful team, Ms Carter, Mrs Shivers, Ms Close and Mr Muir.
Once again, the year has snuck up on us. It is hard to believe that we are at the end of 2019. The ESC 4 students have settled in to year 10 and are ready to take on year 11. They have worked hard and demonstrated resilience and perseverance in the school and at their workplaces.

Workplace has seen the students develop as they take on new challenges in a variety of locations including libraries, retail stores, working with animals, and factory production. Well done on your outstanding introduction to work experience ESC 4!
We have enjoyed going to Garden City Shopping Centre for our Community Based Learning and navigating our way around while using public transport. We have planned how to get there and back, and what is available there.
There have been many sporting events this term, including an Interschool cricket day and an AFL day for some students. An inflatable soccer day was a lot of fun as well. We have had a Christmas Mini Market and seen our business certificate students return to our classroom on Fridays.
Considering the early heat this summer, ESC 4 has remained focused and calm. I would like to give a special thank you to Mrs Harcourt, Mrs Johnson and Mrs Subramaniam for their hard work, you have earned your holiday! Thank you!
Kaya! Wow! What a year it has been! Class and Bush Ranger camps, sports carnivals, chess tournaments, CBL, travel training, bowling, disco, market stalls, basketball, cricket and AFL carnivals and Fishability just to name a few.
Our greatest achievement has been our Frog Pond and Bush Tucker garden. Our plants and tadpoles are thriving. The students have worked hard and learnt so much about creating and maintaining an area for everyone to enjoy. They should all feel so very proud of their efforts!
This term we were fortunate to be part of Fishability with ESC 9. A fantastic service provided by volunteers who are keen to teach our students the art of fishing. Skye and Johnny mastered the craft, catching 18 fish between them and earning a new fishing rod each in the process.

As we start to prepare for next year, we asked the students to look back over this year and tell us their thoughts…
Samuel: My favourite things this year are the camps and going to the Crown to learn about oil spills and the effects on the environment. I can’t wait for next year to meet new friends.
Zachary: My best day was getting four awards at assembly. Two chess awards, Sport Leader badge and merit certificate. Then I won a blue tooth speaker as well! I will miss Mrs Vann and my EA’s.
Aidan: Hiiiii! I liked going bowling and winning the medal for fairest and best on the day. I love cooking (actually eating) all the yummy stuff we make. I loved going swimming in the ocean on Fishability. I will miss my class, especially Sam and Mrs Palma!
Skye: I got to dress up as Slappy for our dance Thriller and our Halloween party. I caught 10 fish at Fishability and I won a fishing rod. I will miss Mrs Vann. She is funny.
Lily: I have loved doing cooking with Mrs Palma. Camp was fun. I really liked going on the Possum Glider and the Flying Fox. I will miss Mrs Vann. She is funny and kwobidok.
Johnny: I loved going fishing because I caught 8 fish and got a new fishing rod. I enjoyed going on CBL because I got chips and gravy. I will miss Mrs Broady.
Ella: I like working in the garden. I did the watering and weeding. I dressed as a zombie for Thriller and I am a wonderful dancer. I love going on camp and trying out all the activities. Thank you to Mrs Smith for helping me.
Jake: When I first moved here I was nervous but now I love everything. I loved performing in Leeming’s Got Talent – which I won for Most Entertaining and doing Thriller where I was a zombie who was creepy and epic. I will miss all my teachers.
We are all so proud of the amazing students in this class. They are growing into caring, independent successful adults who all shine in their own way. We wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a safe and wonderful New Year! Thank you for all your support in 2019, we appreciate all that you do.
What a fantastic team we were this year! Patient, caring and understanding. It has been wonderful working with you all.
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose - Dr Suess
Mrs Vann, Ms Smith, Ms Palma and Mrs Broadhurst
As term 4 comes to an end, we start to wind down and reflect on all of the achievements we have made individually, and the memories we have created together in 2019. This term we enjoyed our CBL program to Carousel Shopping Centre. It was our biggest centre yet, with the longest amount of travel time, and ESC 6 absolutely nailed it! We have become so good at spotting emergency exit signs and other important signs such as fire hydrants, escalators, lifts and toilets in a range of shopping centres. We are loving the responsibility of travelling to our destinations using public transport, and every single student in ESC 6 can tag on and off using their Smartriders with complete independence and confidence!
We have started to get into the Christmas spirit, decorating our class Christmas tree as a team, including the naughty or nice bauble which is always watching us! The bauble has stayed green so far, so we know we must be impressing our teachers (and you know who in the North Pole) with our mature, responsible and positive behaviours. During Literacy we have began reading Christmas themed books, including The Grinch Who Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss. We completed a directed drawing session of the Grinch himself, and I was blown away by the end results! We were so impressed with ourselves we decided to do another directed drawing of Rudolph! Have a look below.
In week 8 we were lucky enough to cool ourselves down on a very hot 39-degree day with Mrs Vann’s class, in blow-up pools and with some water guns. It was so much fun to play and laugh together, and was a nice way to celebrate International Day of People with Disability.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my WONDERFUL year 8.3 class Raymond, Hanna, Lachy, Matthew, Taine, Henry, Karleigh and Ezra. I have had a magical 2 years working with you all, and have loved being your teacher. I am so proud of all of your achievements, and of the young ladies and men you are growing into. I can’t wait to watch you continue your journey at Leeming. Thank you to the ESC 6 parents for your support and kindness, and a HUGE thank you to my Education Assistants Chelsea Hackett, Dharona Pillay and Tanya Payne.
Merry Christmas and a happy and safe holiday break!
Emma Gage.
It is hard to believe how quickly the year has flown. We have enjoyed seeing the ESC 7 class flourish as they have engaged with learning, sporting, music, D&T, Bush Ranger's and cooking programs.
The student's in ESC 7 including Jyrah, Ayden, Fatima, Mikail, Ryan, Madison and Kiara, started 2019 as very small fish in a big pond. However after a year of being at Leeming ESC, they have not only grown taller but built new friendships amongst their peers and been given amazing opportunities to participate in numerous learning experiences. Each and every class member has become more independent and been given opportunities to grow educationally, socially, emotionally and personally.
It has been a year with many challenges and changes, yet with care and support, every class member in ESC 7 has been a super star!
It has been an absolute privilege to teach the ESC 7 class of 2019 for the last two terms. They are the most amazing, special and truely delightful class ever. I feel so blessed to have been given the opportunity to work with not only an awesome group of kid's but also the most amazing EAs.
Special mention to Miss Chloe Hodge, you are the most amazing EA ever! You have been the constant and most consistent person over the whole year for the ESC 7 students. I am so grateful for all you do and have done not only for me but for our students. They absolutely adore you, your fun loving sense of humour and dedication is truely admirable. You are a blessing.
Ms Tenille Mitchell you are an amazing EA, who has the best sense of humour ever! The students absolutely adore you. Thank you for your dedication, hard work and support throughout the year, you are amazing!
Miss Casey T, thank you for all your support and assistance at the end of term 4. We are so lucky you came to join us and be part of ESC 7. You are a super star!
Finally I would just like to say thank you to all the parents of the student's in ESC 7, you have been amazing, very supportive and truely dedicated parents and guardians.
I wish you all the best for 2020, have a very Merry Christmas and a safe Happy New Year!
Be sure to keep on Santa's NICE list!
Nicole Coates
It’s that time of the year where we will have to say goodbyes and when we look back, what an awesome year we had in Year 7. My ESC 8 students have blossomed and matured mentally and emotionally. They have had some wonderful experiences and nurtured some new friendships.
In the last 5 weeks of this term ESC 8 students have participated in travel training and been to Southland Shopping Centre where they practised their social skills, community behaviours and used money to purchase lunch. It was indeed a great experience to see the shops getting ready for Christmas.
Mrs Rollin put in a great effort in creating the Advent Calendar to collect messages from all around the world to wish ESC 8 students a Merry Christmas.
My little elves had worked very hard to create masterpieces at the Christmas Mini Markets. We raised $270 in the Pop Up Shop and Mini Markets, half the money will be donated to a charity and half was spent on the students. The students have a warm and kind heart towards animals and unanimously decided to donate the amount to RSPCA.

To Celebrate a successful year in ESC 8, the students were treated to lunch at Chin’s Noodle House. We all reflected back and shared our most memorable moment in the class.
On Friday the 13th of December, all the Year 7s were taken to Zone Bowling to celebrate a successful first year in Leeming SHS Education Support Centre. Despite the heat the students had a fantastic time bowling and playing arcade games.

I would like to thank my wonderful team of EAs for supporting me and my students to make this year’s journey a wonderful one. Without the support of amazing parents and carers like you, this wouldn’t have been possible. I wish my staff, students and parents a very happy holiday and enjoy the festive season.
Wow! It’s difficult to believe another year has come and gone, with Christmas less than two weeks away!
It has been rewarding year for this group and I am beyond proud of all the progress each one of the students has made throughout the year. We have kept busy in the last five weeks with the Mini Christmas Markets, music lessons, home economics, Zorb soccer with Miss Heard, CBL and a Fishability excursion. Each experience has made us stronger workers, better environmentalists and team players. There were times when we didn’t think that we could do it, but we pressed on!

These talented students can all safely navigate their way through shopping centres, purchase items with some assistance, and love to order their own lunches. Going to Southlands, Bull Creek and Cockburn Gateways this year, gave the students the opportunity to travel by bus and train successfully. I hope you will practice some of these skills over the school holidays!
Our literacy focus for this term was a great incentive for exemplary behaviour. Reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone prompted us to show the best version of ourselves and earn house points for the end of year. It has been a pleasure to see all students engaged with the text and sharing their comparisons between text and film outside lesson times. I think it’s safe to say; Ms Knox has well and truly brainwashed you!

Below are some thoughts about what the students are looking forward to in Year 9:
Nathan: I’m looking forward to doing more cooking and phys ed next year.
Makenzie: Next year I hope I am a sports leader again! It was fun this year.
Orlando: I’m excited for year 9 and making new friends.
Alyssa: I’m looking forward to going on a new camp and maybe being a sports leader.
Harvey: I’m excited for a brand new year, new camps and lots of fun!
Ayrton: I’m looking forward to having a new teacher and doing more Maths.
Nekoda: I’m excited to go to new places for CBL.
I would like to take this opportunity to say how much of an honour it has been to teach my wonderful students; Nathan, Alyssa, Makenzie, Orlando, Harvey, Nekoda and Ayrton. I have loved every minute of this year. A big thank you to the ESC 9 parents for your continued support, kindness and caring attitude throughout the whole year.
And a special thank you to the AMAZINGLY TALENTED Education Assistants, for whom I would be lost without; Mrs Bruns, Ms Festa and Mrs Blacklock. It has been a busy year ladies and I couldn’t have done it without you.
Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Ms Caitlyn Knox
Our last newsletter is a compilation of memories from students. Each student has had a turn to include something of their choice.
Joe: Things that I enjoyed in year 12 were ILC Program, Bush Rangers and English. In ILC we learnt the touch chat and we learnt how to sign (Key Word Signs). In Bush Rangers we went to South Beach we picked up litter and revegetated with native grasses. I enjoyed spelling activity in English. It was a good year.
Levi: Recently we started the Peaceful Kids Program. We listen to sounds like rain while we lay on the floor. There is a voice Mrs Mahalingam gently spoke to us to help us breathe using deep breaths. She tells us to feel our stomach going up and down as we breathe. I like this program because it helps me to calm down after lunch.
Alex: (Alex participated in weekly literacy sessions with the ladies from ILC and devised this sentence) 'I use personal space in line'.
Caitlin: In week 8 we held the Mini Christmas Markets where we sold some chopping boards, painted calico bags and framed tress. I didn’t enjoy the Mini Markets because it was too busy and items were expensive to buy.
Matthew: On Thursdays we’re currently doing tennis but I decided to stay in and do Just Dance. I stayed inside to do Just Dance because I like playing tennis but I thought that it’s hot outside and I decided to stay inside. Just Dance is a videogame which you follow dance moves to songs. Tennis is a sport that you move around and hitting the ball over the net and onto the court.
Nick: This year I’m currently studying a Certificate II in Community Services at Murdoch TAFE campus. I’m doing this course at TAFE because I’m working at SJOGHC Murdoch Hospital and this course will assist me to gain further understanding and develop my knowledge in this sector. In addition, I can apply what I have learnt to the workplace with a range of diverse people, learning how to react to different situations with patients and visitors.
Anna: This year in Bush Rangers I liked watching the camping videos and learning about what you need for camping. Mrs Bowell brought the camping items to school and we had to set them up like we were camping. I really enjoyed it. Tayla and I set up the tent. It was really confusing to do it but we did it in the end.
Tayla: I really enjoyed learning how to make a imovie on animals. I chose animals because I really love them. Watching other student's imovies gives me ideas for other imovies in the future. it was really inspiring to make a imovie.
Nikita: We made volcanoes using paper mache. Its messy on my fingers. They will erupt this Thursday.
Britteny: This year I unexpectedly graduated with Miss FPs students. I was nervous and shy. I was uncomfortable talking to a large crowd but I felt safe that my parents were there.
Myself and the dedicated team of Education Assistants assigned to the year 12 class have had an awesome year teaching your children. We have been sincerely blessed to be a part of their educational journey and it is with pleasure and regret that we say Goodbye to them as they embark on their final year of High School. I myself am leaving LESC to work in another school. While I have loved working at LESC, my new school is very close to home so it really is a Goodbye from me. The year 12 staff wish you all, very enjoyable and safe holidays.
Community Based Learning
Since our last newsletter, the students from 11.2 have visited Fremantle Prison where we enjoyed an informative tour of the prison and learned a lot about its history along with interesting facts about some of the characters that spent time within its walls. The boys also requested that they would like a return visit to Kings Park, where earlier in the year, we walked along the “Boodja-Gnarning” Aboriginal Culture Trail. This time we climbed up the DNA tower to enjoy the impressive views and then we explored some different areas of the park. We have also joined with Mrs Bowell’s class for a wonderful excursion to Melville Bowling and the Shelley Foreshore.
Conservation Project
The area behind the ESC15 Classroom continues to look good, especially now as all the plant guards have been removed. Presently the Black Kangaroo Paws are in blossom and the plants are being watered every morning in the hope that they will be established enough to get through the summer break unscathed. Birds regularly visit our recycled bird bath in this hot weather.
Awards
This term, two of our students, Tom and Tarkin were selected to be the recipients of a “Scholarship Award” from GSI (Good Samaritan Industries). Congratulations to both these boys for their well-deserved selection.
In the Classroom
As we come to the end of the year the students have maintained their fantastic work ethic and as predicted, the students have completed Preliminary Units in mathematics and English as well as in their ASDAN course “Out in the Community”. It has been a demanding year for every one of them, with higher workloads in each subject area as well as external TAFE courses and work placements. The boys should be proud of what they have achieved.
Christmas Mini Markets
This term the students were given a second opportunity to make a product for sale to the wider school community, via the Christmas Mini Markets which were held in Week 8. Following on from the success of our decorated plant pots, the students decided to make decorative candles. Comfortingly, these candles were fairly safe due to their use of battery powered tealights instead of a wick and naked flame. The boys were each able to take a candle home as a present for their family and the remainder were sold on the day.

As this is the final newsletter for the year, I thought it would be a nice idea to let each student write a little about something that they are extra proud of from their year.
Tarkin: This year I achieved so many dreams. These were, passing my Keys4Life test, going to the ESSN Interschool carnival, where Leeming came first and my house Findlay came second in the athletics carnival, getting nominated for a Scholarship in Hospitality and finally completing all my Preliminary Units for English and Mathematics.
Tom: This year I enjoyed doing work experience at Bunnings Cockburn. My favourite jobs were stacking the shelves, using the box crusher and using the iPad scanner to scan items. I also enjoyed going to Hartfield Park for the Interschool soccer carnival, where I was given a medal for being the most consistent player. I really enjoyed doing the Keys4Life Program and I passed my learners permit test in Term Four. Overall, it has been a great year and I look forward to going to the school ball next year.
Jesse: In 2019 I enjoyed going on school excursions. I went to Cockburn shops, Holey Moley and Scitech. I also went on a really fun camp with my whole class. It was in Point Peron.
Troy: I am very proud of myself for doing two days a week at Active Bentley, which I get paid for.
Tyler: This year I am really proud that I was selected join the Keys4Life program and now I have my learners permit. I am also proud that I got the opportunity to do independent work placements at the St John of God Hospital, Murdoch. I also got to go to an Automotive Skill Set course at Kwinana TAFE where I made new friends.
Wil: I am very proud that I got my “L plates” and that I learnt how to use the correct spelling in my English work. I learnt how to work as part of a team and I was happy to use a computer to learn about Excel spreadsheets. I have had a great year and I hope next year will be just as good.
Ruichen: I enjoyed learning how to make hot chocolate, toast and waffles with Mr Roberts.
Kasper: I enjoyed travelling to Workpower in Belmont. It took two buses to get there and I can remember the bus numbers 516 and 999.

I would like to congratulate the boys for all their hard work and to commend them for the wonderful progress that I have seen them make since the start of the year. I wish each of them all the best for the future.
Congratulations to the following students who were recipients of GSI 2019 Scholarships:
Elizabeth Trott
Tarkin Barker
Tom Claydon
Caden Sharp
We were delighted to have so many of our host employers at our end of year “thank you” breakfast. A special thank you to the students who came to help us out on the morning.

Some students came back from their last day of workplace learning to share their feedback from their placements. Here is what they had to say:
I liked wearing work clothes! – Josh Mischefski at GSI Retail Store
I enjoyed putting the vegetables into the take away containers! – Joe Gibson at Meals on Wheels
I loved playing scrabble with the residents – Caitlin Pilkington Bethanie Aged Care
My favourite thing to do was collecting hangers, but I didn’t like doing the buttons up on the clothes! – Corey Evenis at GSI Retail Store
On the final day employers were thanked by our students for hosting their placements and the employers were able to share their gratitude to the students, which was lovely.

At our recent assembly we awarded David Barker and Tayla Sherratt Employee of the Month awards. Congratulations to David on receiving a work trial with Activ two days per week. Also congratulations to Tayla who has commenced a school based traineeship with Colliers International, working towards a Certificate II in Business.
A fantastic year in the workplace learning department!! Wishing everybody a very Merry Christmas!!
Swimming
During term 4, the year 7 classes and Miss Gage’s year 8 class have attended swimming lessons held at Riverton Leisure Plex. The students learnt lots of different skills including water safety, stokes, floating, kicking skills, breathing techniques and throw rescues. We were lucky enough to use the waterslide and bombie pool on our last session to celebrate a fantastic term. Thank you to all of the EA’s who got into the water each week to assist me- you are all amazing!
After Hours tennis
During term 4, selected year 7 and 8 students participated in a 6-week afterhours tennis program. This involved students learning new skills such as forehand, backhand and volley’s. Students improved massively by demonstrating rally’s in their singles and doubles games. Thank you to coach Dan for teaching our students new skills and for being an awesome coach!

Footy Carnival
On Monday December 9, selected students were invited to participate in a footy carnival held at Fremantle Oval. The Stephen Michael Foundation organised this carnival as a trial, to get more AFL opportunities available for our students in the future. Our Leeming students were very excited and demonstrated great skills and sportsmanship throughout the whole day. Congratulations to Brittany Walton, Max Edmonds, Oscar Cuffe-Cain and Josh Evans who were selected by the umpires as fairest and best winners. They were presented a footy from the one and only Stephen Michael! Thank you to Miss Pereira, Mrs Carter (Coach Carter) and Mr Rodoreda for coming along as our coaches for the day!
Sports leadership day
On a scorching day in early December, the sports leaders of 2019 were taken on an excursion to the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA). The students went on a tour of the WACA, visiting the change rooms, members stand, Donald Bradman room, the media room and commentators box. Students were also lucky enough to see some Perth Scorches players training and met Hilton Cartwright. After lunch, we took to the field and played Rapid Fire on the WACA ground, which was very exciting! Although the conditions were hot, these students were absolutely phenomenal all day. I could not be any prouder of this group. It certainly showed you all deserved your positions as 2019 sports leaders. Well done to everyone involved and a special thank you to Miss Pereira, Miss Hodge, Mrs Bruns and Mr Muir for braving the heat with us!
